DNS error (80710102)

When configuring your PS3 network (regardless of wired or wireless), use the manual option. If you use DHCP, leave address resolution at automatic but change the DNS Server enter to manual.
I replaced the Roadrunner (or any other ISP's) DNS entries with addresses from the Open DNS project which is a free, secure DNS server that anyone can use. It's safe, easy, and works.
The DNS addresses are:
208.67.222.222 or/and 208.67.220.220
Once replaced, you should have no problem logging in.
You can also use these DNS servers for your entire network if you like by configuring your router. That however is up to you, and won't be discussed in this particular thread by me since I'm too lazy to make a writeup for every single router out there. However, I do guarantee that this fix will work (or at least get you online with your PS3) for the time being. If it doesn't work, then please re-read this thread and try again before wasting five minutes of your time telling me that it doesn't work.
Also, for those that think that this is a PSN issue; consider this: With TW, I could still browse the net with the PS3. I could also use any of my home PC's without problem. The only time I ever encountered a fault was when trying to log into the PSN network using the TWC supplied DNS addresses. Once I replaced those, the problem went away.
Think about it now. If it was a PSN issue, the OpenDNS addresses woudn't have worked for me or anyone else here either. But, since it did I think it's safe to say that the problem lies with your ISP. Don't forget that alot of ISP's including Time Warner depend on 3rd party DNS hosts. Just because you have TW (or Comcast, or Cablevision, et al), doesn't mean the DNS servers are owned and operated by them as well. Perhaps the DNS provider changed something in their routing tables preventing a connection with PSN. There are ALOT of variables at play here...
That alone could be a reason why others have similar issues with different ISP's. Maybe their ISP uses the same DNS host that Time Warner uses. All you're doing by replacing the DNS address is simply using a different DNS provider; nothing else.

Connect ps3 to laptop via web and walk

Connecting PS3 to a network I have LinkSys wireless router which is working perfectly for other devices (like laptop, Xbox360, TiVO). My wireless network is configured to NOT broadcast the SID and with a WEP key. After entering this manually in the network setup on my PS3, I was able to obtain an ip address from my router, I was able to open the configureation page on my router, but connecting to the internet would fail with some kind of DNS error. The way this was resolved for me, was to enter the DNS server addresses manually in the PS3 network settings AND use tetertiary DNS server from my ISP as either the primary or the secondary DNS server. ..btw, this also fixed the similar problem I had with my PSP.. Thanks!

Finally the DNS problems I had with connecting my PS3 to my network has been resolved. I have LinkSys wireless router which is working perfectly for other devices (like laptop, Xbox360, TiVO). My wireless network is configured to NOT broadcast the SID and with a WEP key. After entering this manually in the network setup on my PS3, I was able to obtain an ip address from my router, I was able to open the configureation page on my router, but connecting to the internet would fail with some kind of DNS error. The way this was resolved for me (and I know someone else mentioned it in an other post here), was to enter the DNS server addresses manually in the PS3 network settings AND use tetertiary DNS server from my ISP as either the primary or the secondary DNS server. Voila... I am upgrading my PS3 software as I write this.... ..btw, this also fixed the similar problem I had with my PSP.. Thanks!

Cant get internet connection on my ps

first check wether you received a valid ip address for your local network. usually, this should be something like 192.168.x.y. if so, then you might indeed face a dns issue. dns is used to resolve web site names to ip address. usually, your ip service provider will broadcast the external dns servers for your router to recognize.

try to connect with a computer first. if it works, check the ip settings. if your computer also cannot connect without explicit dns server settings you can do one of the following:
- explicit dns server address in ps3. go to "advanced internet connection settings", and then to "dns settings" and set the dns server address
- purchase a 30$ network router and hook it between your internet and the ps3. in the router settings, set the dns server address to be broadcasted to the clients. you can use 168.126.63.1 and 2 which are dns servers in korea (i live in korea), but you might want to find the server near to your location or promoted by your isp

Ps3 help

OK, so i just went through this whole deal and its actually not too hard, and i gaurentee you will never have to do it again...
1) hook your ps3 as a wired connection to your router, you may need to go buy a really long cable to do this if you cant move your router in distance.
2) connect it automatically through the setup and it should work fine and connect, if not then i think your fucked.
3) go to network setting > setting and connection status list, write down all the info you can which is shows.
4) unplug the LAN cable, and go back to wireless setup.
5) do a manual setup for IP settings, and type in all the info you have, but DONT type in a WEP or WPA... EVEN IF YOU KNOW YOU HAVE ONE (mine has one but i didnt need it, but if it doesnt work the first time then hell try your passkey)
6) click enter and test connection and it should work!!
hope this helps cuz i see alot of people asking the same question and i had to spend 3 hours figuring it out for myself.

PS3 says DNS error (80710102) when i try to connect to the internet with a wired connection

for mine i tried other fixes and they didn't work. Turns our my router had enabled security but the PS3 had forgotten the password (WEP key).

I turned off the WEP on my router and the PS3 suddenly found its connection.

To say I was getting stressed is an understatement, Sony should put something on their website, it seems like a really commonm problem to which people have no clear route to solution.
