Question about HP w1907 LCD Monitor

1 Answer

My HP W1907 monitor works fine until I try to play The Sims 3 game. I play for several minutes or hours and the monitor shows the message that it is going to sleep and the light on the monitor goes yellow. This started within the past couple of weeks. My computer (not monitor) was in the shop for almost two weeks to investigate this and other issues including 'Driver Power State Failure' blue screen error message. I have had it home about a week now and just took it back in for additional work. I start playing the game and suddenly the monitor just goes to sleep. I cannot wake the monitor bu moving the mouse or clicking on the keyboard. I have to turn off the computer and reboot to get the monitor back on again.

Hi there. I had the same problem months ago when I try to play high end games like Sims 3 my monitor goes into power saving mode. I tried to check every possible causes of the problem. It could be that your computer is overheating try to clean your computer and check if your fans still works. Second it could me your power supply malfunctioning, maybe it does not meet the required power to make your game work. Last cause is your video card malfunctioning, what I did is to just buy a new video card and it works.
If you do not have spare power supply or video card you can go to a computer repair shop for them to check the possible problem that causes it to go into power saving mode. It can also save you money before you can buy a new one.
Hope this helps, Have a good day!

Have you got the latest patch for the game? Try downloading and installing it if you haven't.

You can also try:

Applications -> Utilities -> Disk Utility

Then select your hard drive on the left and click "Repair Disk Permissions"

Hope this helps!

You could have a faulty inverter board. The inverter supplies high voltage to the CCFL lamp/s, these lamps are mini fluro tubes approx 1,5mm dia. and the length of the screen.
Check the inverter output/inverter board and you maybe able to get parts from

No sound from my HP w1907 monitor

This is a failure in the audio section of the control circuit. Your cable could be at fault or the circuit itself. Try switching cables or try you monitor on a different sound source. if this does not work then it is the monitors sound circuits. This requires a trip to a service center for servicing. Hope this helps.

HP W1907 Monitor goes black after resolution change

This is normal, but it should only take less than a minute for your computer to readjust, make sure all your graphic card drivers are updated, for that may be a factor.

Sounds like a goofy monitor.... When you enter into a game it can change the resolution to optimize Graphics Quality and it may take a minute to render if you are on a lower end PC or Graphics Card. Another possibility is a capacitor issue, but it is very unlikely... Back light issues are common on these monitors I have heard.
