Can not remember my network security code

Hi,

Welcome to Fixya. If you need your Security Key (Passphrase) we can access the Wireless Settings Page of the router to obtain the information needed.

To access the router page you need a working computer that is connected to the router. To access the router page just open a browser then type 192.168.11.1, the Default username is root password is blank

Go to wireless settings page and look for the Network Key. You can personalize the Network Key if you want.

Incase the username is not accepted you can reset the router by pressing the reset button at the back of it using a pen or paperclip for 5-10 seconds.

If you have questions just let me know. Thanks for using Fixya

Need security code for new laptop

Hi there,

I think we were disconnected with the chat session. Well, here is what you do, after you have reset the router, try connecting the laptop again to the network. It should not ask for a password this time. Please let me know. If this solved the problem, please do not forget to click the End Session button to properly close the chat and to accept the solution I provided. Thank you for using FixYa.

When logging in, it will not accept my passphrase?

If it doesn't accept it then it doesn't match what was setup in the router, login to the router via a browser at 192.168.0.1, using a ethernet connection. Find the Security Settings page and check the spelling for the passphrase entered there, take note of the Network Authentication that is setup also, when accessing the router from a laptop or pc the network authentication and passphrase must match.

you need to replace your modem with a router that is capable of running Network Address Translation. You are trying to route private IP's (192,168.x.x) over the public IP (internet) network.

Trying to set up router, will not accept my isp info, checked over and over info is correct

Normally, your router is not involved with your ISP. Your router should be communicating with your modem which you rent from your ISP or you own. Your modem, once set up properly, will allow your router to use it. That is whaat DHCP is all about. Let it work.
