Scanner not working

My scanner won't connect. The installation was completed successfully but it still won't scan, from the computer nor the printer.

If it is your first time using your printer, then you need to install the driver for it to work.

If you have used your printer without any problem before then, there are two possible reasons why your printer/scanner is having that issue:

1. Connection error
2. Driver problem

First thing's first. Restart your computer and your printer. there are times that computers and printers just need a restart for it to work. Yes, it's strange but it's how things work with machines. They need rebooting to work smoothly.


If rebooting your computer and printer won't fix the problem. Here are the things that you can do.

1. Connection error:

a. Turn off your printer and turn it back on. Try scanning, if no go.. proceed to step b.

b. Unplug your printer from your computer and unplug it's power cord and press and hold the printer's power button to 5-8 seconds to completely drain the power. Plug it back in to the wall outlet leaving the connection between your computer and the printer still unplugged. wait until your printer completely turns on. Plug it to your computer and do the scanning process.

If all steps above don't work, then you need to check the driver.

Uinstall the driver of your computer by going to the control panel. After uinstalling it, then reinstall it by using the dvd that came with your printer. Follow the on-screen instructions and try scanning. It should work.

I am having problems making my scanner work - I can't scan a document from the printer/scanner/fax/copier to my laptop


How is the all-in-one connected to your computer? What OS are you using? Did you install the full software, basic drivers or the OS drivers? Are you starting your scan from the computer or the buttons on the all-in-one? Is this a newly installed printer or one that has been used several times with this computer?

The Photosmart C7180 can be used with a USB connection, wired ethernet network, wireless network, bluetooth or PictBridge. For a Mac OS, only the USB connection will work.

If you connected the all-in-one to the computer via a USB connection before installing the software, you may have an OS driver that does not include the scanner driver. Disconnect the USB cable then uninstall the driver. Then install the HP driver. If you do not install the full software, you will not be able to use the buttons on the scanner to launch a scan. You'll have to start the scan from the computer.

If you have the full software, the HP Solution Center is installed. This includes a monitoring program that should run when you start your computer. This listens for the press of a button on the scanner and launches the appropriate part of the HP software. However, you need to set the button destinations in this software first. I recommend manually scanning at least once to set the appropriate resolution and destination folder for your scans. Then in the Solution Center, click Settings, Scan Settings, Button Settings and then Front Panel Scan Buttons. Set these based on your default settings.

If this all-in-one has been working previously, check your connection. Scanning requires bi-directional communication with the computer and can fail even when the printer works. Try a new USB cable and a different port, if you are using that connection. If you are on a network connection, check that the firewall isn't blocking communication. (Temporarily disable the firewall to check.) In Windows, check the Devices and Printers (Win7's name) control panel and check if the scanner is a listed device. Right click on it and check the properties and status. (All-in-ones are often listed twice - as a printer and as a scanner.) Try manually scanning with another program than the HP software. Windows includes some options that will acquire scans. XP, Vista and Win7 all include Paint (File > Import from Camera or Scanner > New Scan). Windows7 (and some versions of Vista) include Windows Fax and Scan (click New Scan). If you have the Microsoft Live software, you also have Windows Photo Gallery (works like Paint).

If you are connect the all-in-one to a USB print server, the scanner probably won't work. Try a different type of connection.

If you are using the all-in-one on a network, make sure that the network is up and the printer has an IP address. I've seen routers lose their connection for various reasons. (Rebooting both the modem and router sometimes cures the problem.)

Make sure you the CD for the Printer (CLX 3185) Then insert it into CD drive and install the drivers. If you do not have any CD for the printer, then go on google and search for the drivers from its manufacturer. During the installation of those drivers, make sure your printer is turned on and it is connected to the computer. This will let the computer detect the printer automatically during installation.
When the installation is complete, go to "my computer" and you will find a Scanner drive (for your printer) and with the paper inside the scanner, you can right-click on the scanner drive and you will be given option of scanning.....

My dell pc fax stopped working. Also have trouble scanning from printer to computer in order to fax or send as email attachment.


Hello!

I would suggest you run again the cd installer that comes with your printer.
Uninstall first, previous drivers installed before the installation. Make sure all drivers including fax and scanner will be installed. And that printer's usb cable is disconnected when running the installation, and that it will only be connected when prompted during the process.

How do I scan documents from Lexmark X7350 to my computer?


Make sure the Lexmark OCR scan software is installed on your computer. The software is available in the install disc that came with your printer. Scanning a document:
1 Make sure the printer is connected to a computer, and both the printer and the computer are on.
2 Load an original document faceup into the ADF or facedown on the scanner glass.
3 Press Scan Mode.
4 Press or repeatedly until the destination to which you want to scan appears.
5 Press Start Color or Start Black.
6 To scan multiple pages from the scanner glass, place successive pages face down on the scanner glass and
press Start Color or Start Black.

hello ! reinstall the machine fax and scanner program cd's may be the installation was not completed or is the machine having issues .

This is a known issue with HP printers. Do not worry, if you get this message that the scanning software could not be found the please go to the link

Select the Operating System.
From the list select. ... HP Full Feature Software and Drivers

Then scroll down to the 3rd option......
Click on Download only >> Save the file to the desktop.
Start installation and make sure that the Printer is not connected using the USB cable to the computer.

While installing, you will get the option to connect the printer. Do not connect the printer.
Select the option "I will connect it later". Go next the installation will be complete.

After the installation is complete...leave the CD inside the computer.

Connect the computer and the printer.
It will show you the configuration window.
Wait until you see the "Start using the device" option.
Click on "Start using the device".
You should see the solution center window now.

If it is succesfull. Try scanning using the Solution center.
If it is succesfull, you can now scan using the printer as well.

Try it and let me know if it works and please let me know your issue in detail.

Scanner on HP6110


I also have this problem. Try going to
-Start
-Programs
-Accessories
-Scanner and Camera Wizard.

I can get my scanner to work through the wizard when it won't work by just pressing the scan button on the printer.

New installation 810, printer works A1, scanner won't work


Uninstall and reinstall the software. Normally the software installed on the computer controls the scanner functions for the all in one dell stuff. Check dells site also for any updates that might correct this issue.
