The netgear router installation will set up the internet connection during install.
Download the Router driver from netgears website and install on the computer/s then your up and running.
it appears you wireless card is seeing the router so just install the drivers and your set.

My laptop cant connect to the internet

Connect a LAN cable from the Netgear to the LAN port on your computer, open a browser and enter the Netgear configuration URL -
http://192.168.0.1
The default login = admin
The default PW = password You can now change the default admin password and configure the wireless settings.
Go to the wireless configuration and set up the SSID and WPA or WPA2 encryption to protect your wireless network and Internet from unauthorized access.
Now apply these settings to the wireless card in your laptop/computer.

Have Netgear wndr3300 router...has been in use with main desktop and 2 laptops running windows 7 for some time....son came home from army with an HP running Vista....no matter what we try...will not...

you might try a connection through the modem first to see if you can get a connection
check your son's computers settings ie: firewall also he might have a default internet setting you might have reconfigure all internet settings on his computer
check the leads from the router whether usb, ethernet make sure they are not bad/faulty and have secure connections or try different ports
click start control panel administrive tools computer management device manager scroll to network adapters + to expand any yellow ! ? or a red x will mean that the driver is corrupt and needs to be updated
hope this helps

The Netgear router needs the wireless settings configured i.e SSID, WPA encryption etc and the wireless card in the laptop/computer needs to be configured with the router's wireless settings for the laptop/computer to connect with the Netgear wireless router. Pleas click on this link and follow my instructions to secure your wireless network, configure the wireless router's settings and configure the wireless card in the laptop/computer :-

My HP laptop won't connect to my NETGEAR WGR614v7 router

What is your operating system (Vista/XP, older Windows)? Have you turned on the router's wireless router radio from the computer that is connecting? (Login to the router's setup page at 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1 (depending on the router) and go to Advanced menu and click Wireless Settings.) While you are there, enable the SSID Broadcast (another checkbox hust below the one for Wireless Router Radio). Now check if your laptop can see the router.

Additional FAQs that might be helpful are at http://kb.netgear.com/app/products/model/a_id/2589. That page has a link to setting up XP for wireless networking as well.

My netgear will not let me connect to the internet via my wireless connection my main computer has internet as it is connecter via the yellow cable to the netgear my other computers have a netgear adapter...

Open Zonealarm, choose Firewall, Zones.

Add >> IP Range set your IP range eg 192.168.0.1 to 192.168.0.254

This should allow connection between Router and Wireless Laptop/Desktop.

If your wireless PC cannot see the router, check your router setting to see if you are transmitting a SSID

My main computer has internet but my other computers in the house cant find my netgear but windows cant connect

It sounds like you are using Windows Zero Conguration, go into advanced properties and de-select "Allow Windows to configure my wireless connection". Then you need tpo find your wireless utility that comes as part ofd the installtion for your wireless adapter and use that instead. On your laptop it is probably going to be Intel Pro-Set Wireless Configuration Utility.

Try that.

No connectivity to 2nd desktop or laptop - although worked before

Hello....sudden loss of wireless on two computers, in the same home, may indicate that a powerful source of wireless interference has just arrived (since your wireless router light is still on).

1) Does the signal improve if you move the router, or move the laptop closer to the router?
2) Have you had any success with changing the channel on your router? (Login to router > select Wireless Settings > Channel)

If you have not moved furniture yourself, or installed a device which could interfere with the signal (eg a DECT phone), it's possible a neighbour's new router may be the culprit.

Please come back to Fixya if this does not help.

Wireless connection

Make sure that your computer is getting a valid IP address from the router. If your wireless network is secured, you might as well consider checking the wireless settings.

Wireless connection of netgear wireless router for compaq laptop

Sometimes firewalls on your computers can cause connection issues. I had the same problem with my home network. I had norton internet security 2008 on both systems, but the firewall settings on both computers had to be adjusted to allow the computers to talk. If you have different brand firewalls on each computer, you should consider to switching one of the computers so that it matches the other.

Another thing you want to do is log into the router's web utility and check to see if the wireless settings are blocking wireless connections in some way. You also want to make sure the ssid broadcast is enabled.

Finally, you really should consider using security on your router, so wireless connections would be password protected. I suggest wpa personal.
