    • i have the same problem with my mach en can anything be done to correct it

  • jzerby Jan 31, 2009

Mine is doing the same thing. The lid switch seems to be working fine. (Open the door during fill cycle and the water stops.) If I advance the dial a notch or even wiggle it, it proceeds until the next time the before the water drains. Is the dial machanical or electronical? My dial sounds like an egg timer with a bad spring. Please help!

DRAIN MOTOR PUMP might be clogged or stuck , if your handy , just open the washer and look at the bottom , theres a little motor with 2 hoses connected , take it out ( be ready with some rags and a pail ) clean it and remove any debri from the impellers , put it back and try again , hope this helps and please rate , thanks AJ

oh my god!!!!!. My girlfriend has had the washer for around 6-7 years. I only moved in acouple of years ago.I always wondered where the filter is. But never having a front loader before I just thought it must work another way. It stopped during spining and draining cycle the other day. So I thought I would see of I could fix. Just read your post. You guys are awesome. Found so much stuff in there. Lots of money, several simcards and a huge bloody sock. The famous missing sock. Well that mystery is solved. Thankyou everyone.

SOURCE: whirlpool super capacity Lsq9549lw0 has trouble spinning on its own.

If the washer does fine thru the agitation cycle (the washing), that means the motor is OK and the coupler is OK.  It would not agitate unless both are OK.  (and don't listen if anyone tells you the lid switch is bad -- machine would not fill & go thru wash cyle). The spin is another matter.  There is a separate tube for spinning the basket.  There is a drive  block at top of the tube (that sometimes fails)  and there is a separate cluch mechanism below, under the tub.  Those places is where you should look.

hi, it sounds like one of two possibilties, will try and help out. The first thing to check is whether the water/drain pump is actually working fine, i think it blocked. Secondly the pump may also be overheating and malfunctioning during the cyle, run it without clothes and check the flow of the drain during the drain/spin cycle and take it from there.

Washer stopped during spin cycle

Hello, try to checked the pump filter, and the pump is actually working. then I would suspect a draining problem.
If filter clean and pump works fine then it could be a control module fault. if this were the case, then it would probably be wiser to purchase a new washer.
Thanks

The spin cycle is not spinning

Hello, if your spin cycle is not spinning all the water out, your washer probably has a frozen pump pulley. If so, you need to replace the pump. To check the pulley, remove the pump from the washer and try to rotate the pulley manually. If it doesn't turn freely....if it's frozen or stiff, replace it

Thanks

Trying to locate the belt on a Whirlpool washer

Hi:
Your washer does not have a belt. It has a transmission, and they seem not to fail very often. Usually, the problem lies with the timer or some other switch. What exactly happens when your spin cycle comes around? Normally, after the wash cycle, the machine stops, then the spin cycle starts in the opposite rotation. The first thing that happens is the water is pumped out, then as the speed increases, the spinning throws the rest of the water out of your clothes. If your machine does pump down the water, but doesn't spin fast, then you might have a transmission problem, but if it also fails to pump out the water, you could have a timer or switch problem, as some machines won't spin with the lid open, and if the switch is broken, the machine thinks the lid is open.

WASHING MACHINE SPIN CYCLES NOT WORKING

If your washer doesn't spin or pump water out but the motor is running, your washer probably has a frozen pump pulley. If so, you need to replace the pump. To check the pulley, remove the pump from the washer and try to rotate the pulley manually. If it doesn't turn freely--if it's frozen or stiff--replace it.

The following is a link to a diagram of washer parts, If you scroll down about half way down the page, you will see the pump:

There is a block in your pump, you have to locate it, dismantle it & remove the block. Plug off the wall first.
