Check that the connectors between the display screen and the mother board is connected properly. If it seems to be plugged in properly, then the problem could be a faulty connector itself, and you will need to replace it.

Are you talking of an external monitor? If so, did you try connecting the monitor with the laptop on? If that is the case, then you probably disrupted or shorted the circuitry on the monitor, and you will have to get the monitor serviced..

Must be a short circuit somewhere. I guess the best thing to do would be to service the laptop..

You did not mention what did you had serviced, is it the motherboard or the monitor. Also plz make sure that the internal and the external connections of your computer are done correctly. Are you able to boot to BIOS or the safe mode window? If not then the issue should be with the monitor itself.

I would like to scratch-install the new WINDOWS 7 on the TOSHIBA P105-S6114. Is this okay? Are there any problems I may encounter?

Hello,

ecommended Windows 7 Installation Method SelectionToshiba provides support for installing Windows 7 on laptops built since 2007. Depending on your model, Toshiba recommends using one of the following software tools as part of the Windows 7 installation process, to support ongoing use of Toshiba provided features and functionality:
  • Toshiba Upgrade Assistant for Windows 7, for upgrading from Windows Vista to Windows 7 on laptops made in 2009
  • Toshiba Software Installer for Windows 7, for performing a Custom Installation of Windows 7 ("clean install") on laptops made 2007-2009
Find your laptop's serial number on a sticker on the bottom of the laptop, note the second character in that serial number, then click on the matching link in the list below for instructions on Toshiba's recommended Windows 7 installation method for your model.
For all laptops made since January 1, 2007*
When upgrading from Windows Vista (not a Custom or "clean" Install)
  • if the second character of your laptop's serial number is 7 or 8, click here.
  • if the second character of your laptop's serial number is 9, click here.
When upgrading from Windows XP, or doing a Custom Install ("clean install") from any operating system
  • if the second character of your laptop's serial number is 7, 8, or 9, click here.
  • if the second character of your laptop's serial number is not 7, 8, or 9 then it was manufactured prior to 2007.*
* Installation of Windows 7 is not supported by Toshiba for laptops made prior to 2007.

Hope it helped.

Screen Problem

Unfortunately the fix is a new lcd. The tab welds at the top of the lcd are not allowing that portion to work correctly. As these tabs are fused to the lcd you will need to replace the lcd. My Toshiba M105 is almost the same.(I Have 4" Gone) on the right side. so to use it I clicked and dragged my system tray from the bottom to the side. And shrunk my web pages to utilize tthe good portion.

I suppose I should replace it but being only 18months old the LCD's run about 160.00 USD.(sometimes I just hook up an external monitor.

White lines on screen

im sorry my friend I do not understand what a funny marrior is? LOL If your complaining about white lines at only the top of the picture, then I would say that your problem is with the vertical sweep circuit. Most likly a capacitor in the vertical preamp really small ones next to the jungle IC or the capacitors that are used as waveshapers in the vertical drive and output. If the entire screen is white lines then the screen drive is too high so back it down till the lines just disapear. if that wont turn down, theres a filter cap on the sweeop supply or the CRT socket board is bad. Good Luck
