Question about Car Audio & Video

Open Question

To whom it may concern: I have a monkey DVD in-dash player model mdvdaf36. I have no volume control. I have a problem with my remote control. I tried to get it fixed. But, we have no technician that can fix it where I am from. Is it possible to get a replacement on the remote or the volume control chip that is soldered to the control. I tried to fix it myself but the plastic piece is broken. If you could give me a price quote and/or some kind of advice I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you.

SOURCE: Volume control broken

You can purchase clear 2-part epoxy products at most home improvement stores. You will also need masking tape (or similar) a popsicle stick (or similar) a small piece of cardboard and a toothpick.
Mix the epoxy with the popsicle stick and apply a small amount to the exposed surface of the volume control's stem. Holding the knob in place, run a strip of tape from the top of the unit, across the knob and to the bottom.
These epoxies are very strong and fast setting. It's probably best to leave the tape for at least 8 hours but you should refer to the instructions for the epoxy you buy.

Good Luck,
BB

SOURCE: Harman Kardon AVR 500: randomly accelerates volume levels.

The problem is with the actual eltromechanical element on the volume control, my avr 300 does this as well and I'll let you know the secret to avoiding it. There are small indents on the volume control as you turn it, if you leave it half way between indents, it will periodically start reading volume changes, if you're lucky it will go down, if you're unlucky by the time you've noticed it act up your speakers are blown. When you change the volume, make sure the control rests in an indent and the problem will never crop up again. A simple solution if you're the only one that uses the receiver.

Does remote have audio volume adjust?

I work for Coby technical support. Our customer service phone number is 1-800-727-3592.

Unfortunately, the dvd 224 doesn't have a volume adjustment. The models that do are the ones that come with 5.1 surround sound speakers such as dvd 755, dvd 937, and dvd 958 just to name a few.

If you feel this solution doesn't deserve a good rating, please let me know why so that I may better assist you. If there is anything more I can do to help, I will!

The DVD player has a separate volume control - make sure the DVD player's remote volume is turned up as well as the TV's.
