Question about Office Equipment & Supplies

1 Answer

Tried installing a HP laser printer. Quicken 2008 would not print. All other programs print OK so it's not the printer. Several forums indicated that Quicken does not like laser printers. I find this hard to believe. Printer that has been working for years is an inkjet. We need to go with laser for printing checks. Any suggestions? We took the HP back after hours and hours of trial and error.

This has been a problem from the moment the new printer was installed. We have uninstalled and reinstalled the printer and the drivers. There is not error message! It just doesn't print. On Quicken's own site there were dozens of comments about problems with Quicken and laser printers. That's where I read that Quicken does not work with laser printers - only ink jets. I gave up for a while and just put the old printer back on but now it needs replacing and I thought I would give you guys a try.

Honestly it was bizarre - installation went smooth - printing from Word and other programs was flawless. Test Page prints without a hitch. Go to Quicken to print anything and absolutlely nothing happens.

Sorry I didn't answer your question about upgrading Quicken. Yes, we did. We had 2006 and we installed 2008 thinking that might help. It did not.

    Thanks for your response!!

I know there are conflicts between HP and Quicken ( not only for laser, for almost all the models - even on Windows 7 ).I am stumped that there is ' no error message '. There were reports that there is a big conflict between the HP drivers and Quicken. I am trying to see if there is a patch released for the same. In the meanwhile, kindly check and make sure you have the updated drivers.

Check and make sure that under printer properties>advanced tab that
the printer is set to "print directly to the printer" and not spooled.Start> Settings> Printers and Faxes>. Then right mouse click on
the HP printer and select Properties> Advanced. Then go back into
Quicken and re-set the printer options.

Kindly follow the above and revert to me. If not worked, i could try to search the patch ( if ever introduced ) or try different tricks.

    Let me know,one done.

    Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

Quicken reports & reconciliations wont print

If your printer prints other documents properly then it is a problem with the driver for your Quicken program. Go to the Quicken site and upload the latest driver for your operating system.

Dear Sir/Madam,

To resolve this issue:
  1. From the Quicken File menu, choose Printer Setup, and then select the form that you are trying to print.
  2. Make sure that all selections and settings in the Printer Setup window are correct, especially the selection in the Printer drop-down list.
  3. If all information is correct, click Cancel and proceed to step 4. Otherwise, click OK after making the necessary corrections, and then try printing again.
  4. If the message persists, exit Quicken.
  5. Click the Microsoft® Windows® Start button, choose Settings, and then choose Printers.
  6. Right-click your printer and choose Properties.
  7. Click the Advanced tab, clear the Enable advanced printing features checkbox, and then click OK. Restart Quicken and try printing again.
  8. If the message persists, exit Quicken.
  9. Double-click Add Printer and proceed through the Add Printer wizard until you reach the window that asks for the printer manufacturer and model.
  10. Select the manufacturer for ex. HP, and then select the printer HP DeskJet 550C (or any other HP DeskJet 500 series printer). Follow the onscreen directions in the wizard to finish adding the printer.
  11. Restart Quicken. From the File menu, choose Printer Setup, and then select the form that you are trying to print.
  12. Select the printer you added in step 10 from the Printer drop-down list and then click OK.
Completely uninstall the old version and install the new version. Before install clear registry and temp files. Update the latest driver for printer.
Thanks
Good Luck

I have Quicken 2009 and Windows Vista, HP Printer

I've tried off and on for a year to try to get assistance from Quicken and HP because my Quicken reports would not print. Everything else printed just fine. It was so frustrating because nothing worked. I needed to get reports to my accountant and thought I was just going to have to hand write the reports. In the end, I took a photo of the screen (with the report showing), downloaded the photo to the computer, tweeked it a bit with my photo software, then prrinted it. How goofy is this to get a report from a program that is supposed to make my life easier???!!!

Quicken 2009 Deluxe will not print on Vista 64 system on HP 5610 All-in-one printer - ran all the usual suspects about drivers, rebooting, selecting right printer, etc. etc. no luck. Seems Quicken does...

Me too. None of my printers worked and each time I tried Quicken crashed. But only quicken had this problem. Then I read this super simple fix:
  • Click Edit from the menu bar, and choose Preferences > Quicken Program.
  • Go to Register > Notify, and remove the check mark from “Warn if a check number is re-used”
  • Click OK.
  • Print checks.
At this location: http://tinyurl.com/moehn3

Worked like a charm. Go figure. Wasn't even a duplicate check number.

Have Quicken 2008 and HP J6400 printer. Can print reports but can not print checks

Check that the problem is not caused by mismatched paper size, in that case you may need to correct printer settings and adjust also settings on Quicken.

Quicken 2008 is also known for having several bugs that affect printing, if you are considering an update to 2009, that should fix the problem.

You can also check if a patch to fix the problem is available contacting quicken online, check the links below:

Quicken 2008 printing vista 64

There is an issue with Quicken 2007 and 2008 printing to many HP printers. Workarounds: 1) print to the Quicken PDF virtual printer, then print the resulting PDF file. or 2) Install a Deskjet 990 driver (using the add printer command) using the same port as the Officejet 7410 is installed.
