Question about Kenmore Freezers
The lock is only to prevent the door from opening, it does not cause the unit not to cool properly. If this is a chest freezer, a not uncommon occurrence can happen in similar situations, used for a while, then not plugged in for a period of time, and when its used again stops cooling. The lack of usage causes the refrigerant lines in the cabinet walls to rust, and therefore the refrigerant leaks.
You might consider a service call just to make sure.
