my sc-ht67 system is also showing "f61", i used my sistem only to hear music, i bought a tv, and connected, when i turn on dvd red led becomes green to indicate it is turned on, it flashes f61, then green led comes back red. The same happens when i push the open disc tray button. No other button responds. Please help me.

This fixed my unit;
remove the top cover and power it up (keep hands and other body parts clear)
check the cooling fans at the right and rear of the unit, are they turning as fast as they should be?
If not remove the fan and peel away the sticker from the center anput a drop or two of WD-40 down the hole and spin the fan until it loosens up then reassemble.
This fixed mine. Hope it fixes yours.

Someone else says that. "This problem is caused by degraded speaker connections. Redo the contacts and reconnect them. Turn the unit on with the volumn on low and your problem should be solved." let me know if this works for you.

I fixed it once after somone (wife) put cheap Christmas cds in. UNPLUG! I open the top and removed the cds.
I moved the white piece of plastic so that the table could slide open
Then not touching anything for fear of shock. I am not an electrician so I don't know.
I plugged it in.
This seemed to allow the tray to go back in and  it removed the error code.
It has worked another 12 months. I have the problem again now an am going to check the fans as mentioned above.

Error Message

The F61 indicates a problem detected in the output amp stage and the unit us shutdown to prevent further damage. If you can supply the model number, I can give you the part required and the approximate cost.

F61 error

I had the same problem, and I had to replace the fan on the unit. The fan would not turn on at all, so the computer would tell the unit to turn itself off. After the fan was replaced (which is relatively simple) it works like new.

Error F61

I have just struck this problem on a friends unit and here is what I did

Disconnect DVD player and all accessories and connections
Problem still occurs
Open machine ( remove three screws from back and slide top cover off. inspection of the inside top cover shows a black patch just above the fan unit
manually spin fan
power up unit and f61 no longer shows up
I think this miaght be a problem with the fan not spinning up at start and the machine then shuting down
I will fit a new fan and see what happens

F61 tells you its a power source problem according to the manual. to all F61 error it is very likley that the str470-050a reg legs desolderd and have broken away from the main body of the regulator giving you the f61 and shut down.
