Question about Tools & Hardware - Others

1 Answer

My fairly new Black and Decker sander has stopped working. During the last few minutes before it finally failed starting it became more and more difficult, it required two pulls on the switch to start it , then three , then four before it finally failed to start at all. Is this a switch or motor problem? Marc

Black & Decker Belt Sander suddenly stopped working.

Probably not.
It may have just had a part break inside, like the on-off switch, or one of the wires to one of the brushes, etc., etc.
I buy these regularly, and they are inexpensive, which also means they are made of inexpensive ( cheap) parts.
It wouldn't hurt to take it apart, knowing it may not be repairable. Sometimes parts are available on-line.
Be blessed.

I have a MS1000 Black and Decker Cyclone round sander..looking for replacement sanding disc

Hello, W/D here.
Most sanding disc types are available at the larger box hardware stores. They are (sometimes) generic or exact replacements.
I use the "Gator" brand on my B7D sander, and the discs work just fine.
Best regards, --W/D--

Sounds like a problem with the ON/OFF switch. Hit it with a bit of contact cleaner or WD40 and work it a dozen or so times, it may just be dirty...... at least if you are lucky.

Black & Decker Cyclone won't power on

If the sander was on for a long period of time maybe 20 mins or so then the switch has probably stuck in the off position when you turned off. Try a new switch or test the old one. Try Solent Tools on 023 80578057 for spares or further advice.

Hand sander stops spinning once placed on item to be sanded

This sander has a brake pad that is supposed to stop the rotation when the sander is not actually in use. It sounds like it's malfunctioning.
The only other thing I can think could be a cause of what you describe is an improperly assembled sanding base. Have you changed out the base, and if so, were you sure to properly align the replaced base on the machine before you tightened the allen screw?
If you're not comfortable disassembling a tool that is still under warranty ( I think it's two years for that one), I would recommend finding a Dewalt service center and taking it in for a factory service call.
