Question about Compaq (261671-001) Motherboard

2 Answers

I cleaned my motherboard (MS6577 ver4) by using a vacuum hose to **** out my VERY dusty my machine! However, after plugging back everything, it won't power on. I don't know why it wouldn't turn on since the vacuum was locate on the ground while the machine was atop my washing machine so the vacuum's motor wouldn't come near the motherboard. Did I demagnetize the power supply? Is it time to "just" purchase a new power supply, or worst yet, will I need to purchase a new desktop to replace what I may have demagnetize? Thanks for your time! Assuming you didn't get the vacuum hose down by the board and accidentally break off or bend one of the components....
I have done the same thing before and the vacuum gets the easy dust that you can see however sometimes it will move the dust but not completely **** it up and it will cause a short on the motherboard. Best thing to do after using the vacuum is to get either a can of air or an air compressor of some kind to get the last bit of dust out that you can't see)

Thanks so much for your response! I'll give it a shot tomorrow since I"ve already placed the panels back. I'll keep you updated! Thanks again!

By the way and as a matter of fact... I didn't do anything that would've bent anything (transister, etc.). I've done the vacuum thing so many times but there was so much dust that you can actually plant a tree! That's really no exaggeration. Too bad though. I should've taken pictures before I cleaned it.

Constant whine when computer turned computer does not work

Sounds like either a SERIOUS hard drive issue (could be dusty or damages) or particles in the cooling fan that desperately need to be cleaned out. Have you looked inside your machine to make sure the fan is clean? Over abundance of dust can quickly cause cooling fan to stop, cpu to over heat and protective mechanisms kick in and shut down the machine.

Try to vacuum the back, bottom, sides and keys of your machine if you can not get it open. If you can, vacuum everything you can reach. Just be careful. :)
If this doesn't help you may want to get your hard drive tested or replaced.

Hope this helps.

I have a Duet Dryer model GEW9200LW2. It takes a couple cycles to dry clothes and my electric bill has gone through the roof. Is there something I can fix or replace?

Hi spirko...
Sounds like its time to clean your machine of lint, strings, paper, etc from the vent system of the dryer.
You will need to remove the back of the dryer, and you will need to find the air blower tubing system, you will take that apart and remove any dust, dirt, lint, pens, paper, etc that you find around the blower wheel, check the wheel to make sure it is not broken or loose on the shaft, make sure your cleaned everything all the way out of the dryer...Now you can put it back together after cleaning.
Then you will want to clean your vent hose all the way out to where it vents to the outside of the house, this can be accomplished with a vacuum, and something stiff to tie the vacuum hose to to feed it into the vent pipe for cleaning.
They do make a special cleaning tool for vent tubing, check with homedepot, lowes, etc
After you get everything clean and plugged back in your machine should operate normal and your electric bill should return back to normal again.

When plugged in the hose light blinks

My spotbot lights would blink and it, for a time, only worked on deep clean even after unplugging and plugging back in. Finally it wouldn't work at all, only the hose light would blink. I unplugged the hose and plugged it back in and the machine started working as it should.

The vacume was plugged. Believe I unplugged it, but now it just blows air OUT, does not **** in. Everything is emptied and cleaned. Don't know what to do next. Just had new carpet installed today, and...

Even tho its empty and clean, if the hosing is blocked up then it will not **** up anything.
The hosing down below the attachment hose may still be blocked up and that will have to be cleared for it to suction again.

remove the attachment hose look down the hose at the back. you can also flip over the machine and look for the attachment hose to come to the brush roller. I assume it is blocked up there and not picking up properly.

Good luck.

Is there a way to check M/B MS6577 ver. 4.1 ,good

A motherboard whatever its age, cannot function without CPU and memory, you need at least these to test it.
If you are sure the CPU and memory are fine but the motherboard doesn't work when tested then it's dead, junk it.

Suddenly pc restarted.

Your CPU is overheating
1) Turn off computer and remove case side
2) remove fan from "heatsink" do NOT remove Heatsink "Usually this is stuck with solidified heat paste"
3) clean all dust and dirt from heatsink and fan.
4) vacuum out case Include behind power supply and video card.and any other fans
5) use stiff brush and vacuum outside of power supply
Reboot and see if still restarts if not everything OK
shutdown PC and refit case side.
This is a common problem on a lot of computers as the environment they are used in is usually dusty.
I do mine every 3/4 months and have no problems like this
Please when works give me a fixya

Bissel vacuum cleaner

That is the problem with a bagless, but if you keep the filters clean it won't be quite as dusty.

1. Make sure the hose attachment is pushed all the way down into its receptacle. It will click softly when it's all the way down.

2. Detach the hose from the machine. Do this by twisting the grey fitting on the back of the machine. (Note: leave the attachment end of the hose plugged into the machine) Turn the machine on. Hold your hand over the hose fitting. If there's strong suction then there is a blockage in the hose.

3. If not, check in the fitting to see if something is stuck in there. On the back of the machine there is a long clear tube that travels down the back of the machine. Sometimes larger peices of paper get stuck in there. If something is in this tube, take a phillips screwdrive, remove the 7 black screws off and remove the blockage. Reassemble and try the machine.

4. There are two filters on this machine. The one that may be clogged and affecting the suction is located below the canister in the front of the machine. Simply pull ouot the tray and reomve the grey foam filter to clean. Rinse it out with warm water then allow it to dry. Replace in its tray then slide the tray back into the machine. The other filter is the HEPA filter and has nothing to do with the suction of the unit. It is an exhaust filter and does need to be changed at least once a year. It filters the air coming out of the machine. The first few times we used ours the whole house smelled "clean". Whne a new filter is placed in the machine that "clean" snmell returns. The filters are $25 apiece at Amazon.com.

5. As a maintainence item, remove the canister as though you were going to empty it. Place it on the ground, locate the two buttons (one clear plastic/one blue) on the front and back of the canister and remove the clear plasctic housing. This will allow you to clean the hundreds of little holes on the grey surface of the top of this section. (This looks like a circular colender.) To clean this, use an old toothbrush and scrub the dust and stuff into your grabage can. I do this once or twice a year. (Since I have a Shop Vac in the garage, I use this instead of a toothbrush.)

Hope this helps.
