Hi just read your posting. Now try this.Select a spin cycle and push the start button.Do you hear the noise straight away after the button is pushed or do you hear the noise later when the machine is starting to turn the bowl? The reason I ask you this is because as soon as you push the start button the drain pump will activate and then a couple of minutes later the bowl will start to turn.So if the noise starts straight away then the necklace is in your pump and if the noise starts later it is stuck to the bowl. Please reply with the additional information and I will guide you throe the removal of the necklace.Looking forward to your reply.

Thank you for the reply. There is no sound when the spin cycle starts up so it must not have got to the pump. the sound begins when the bowl starts to turn.

Fisher & Paykel Smart Drive 7.5 washing machine.

Unplug the machine have someone tilt the machine back and look under the machine for a little fan on a motor give it a turn to see if it spins it might just be sticky or it may need replacing.

F & P Smartdrive Excellence works fine until it reaches the rinse and then just makes whirring noise. I can't get it to spin either and it won't empty. Is there a way of at least draining it. Cheers...

Hi Kiri,

F&P mahcines are a little hard to drain as the drain hose comes out of the rear of the cabinet half way up.

You may have to use a small container and manually bucket it out.

The drain pump is more than likely blocked (seen this a lot on the F&P) and is accessable from the front panel or underneath the machine.

Terrible noise when agitating

Your transmission has gone out. The reason the spin cycle works is because the transmission spins two different ways and you agitate way stripped the gear. Some places rebuild them. Try with your local stores maybe they can rebuild it or get you a good used one. If not you can order a new one from sears.com
