Change the belt

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

DC25 doesn't have a traditional, user-replaceable belt. Instead, the belt is engineered to last the lifetime of the machine in normal use. The belt is protected by a sensor which shuts off the brush bar if something jams it. If the brush bar isn't currently rotating it's very unlikely to be related to the belt itself - instead, the cleaner head may just need resetting.

Please follow the steps shown in our video guide to remove any threads or hair from around the brush bar and in the end cap.

It's important to note that the brush bar will never rotate when the machine is standing upright. Make sure you recline your machine into the normal vacuuming position before testing it.

If you'd like further help after giving this a try, our experts are on hand. You can reach us by calling 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU). If a repair or a replacement part is needed, we can also confirm if your DC25 is within the Dyson parts and labour guarantee period.

How to change belt in dyson upright model dc07

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

There are two versions of DC07 - some include a brush bar which rotates all the time when the vacuum is running. And some include a brush control clutch mechanism which allows you to turn off the brush bar for hard floor cleaning. If your machine has the brush control, you'll see the dial on the front of the cleaner head.

If you have a DC07 without the brush control feature, you can replace the belt as shown in our online Support guide: http://www.dyson.co.uk/support/dc07/dc07-standard/maintaining-your-dyson-machine/change-the-belt1/belt-fitting-preparation

However, if you have a DC07 with the brush control feature, the clutch mechanism uses belts engineered to last the lifetime of the machine in normal use. These are not designed to be replaced by the user, and we would advise against attempting to change these as damage may be caused to your machine.

For further advice on having your machine repaired, or to order replacement belts for a DC07 without brush control, please contact our experts directly. You can reach us by calling 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).

How you change belt model vrs25 r

Your model # gives no indication of what kind of vacuum you have.
I will treat it as an upright, most of which are basically the same
when it comes to belts. Remove the brush bar cover....some have screws and some have release tabs. Pull the brush bar out of the
side slots and slip the belt off of the motor pulley. Place the new belt
on the pulley and on the groove on the brush bar...pull the brush bar
forward and place into the side slots. GROOVE AND PULLEY MUST
LINE UP.

Dennis

How to change vacuum belt on bissell 6583-x

I am not familiar with this model but the first step would be to
remove the brush bar cover...this may be attached by screws
or numbered tabs which are released in sequence starting
with #1. With the cover off pull the brush bar out and slip the
belt off the pulley. Be sure to buy the correct belt and line up
the groove on the brush bar with the motor pulley...put the belt on
the pulley and stretch the brush bar forward and insert into the
slots on the sides. I hope all this applies to your vacuum.

Dennis

The brush bar will not spin. The belts melt when I turn it on and the belt drive is hot to touch with smoke coming out.

The belt is rubbing the foot plate.Check to see if the foot plate is damaged.Allso check the bearings in the brush bar are free and spin without the belt on.If you cant spin the brush bar by hand with the belt not attached then your bearings are seized.Get a new brush bar

My dyson dc 07 brush will not rotate. I have cleaned all hair and debris from around the brush and no change. I can not even figure out how to look and see if the belt is still attached. Suggestions?

DC07s are not easy to check the belt on, in fact depending on which exact model you have there are probably two belts.
One connects the output of the motor to the clutch mechanism (one end of which has the control knob that lets you turn off the brush bar completely), and the other connects the clutch to the brush bar.
The clutch to brush bar belt is easy to check as the belt can be seen running over the brush bar if you remove the sole plate. The other belt is "hidden" under a plastic cover secured by three Torx screws. These need a special Torx driver to remove so unless you have a well tooled-up friend, this may mean a call to Dyson for help..

The site www.dysonmedic.com is excellent, but may not cover your exact DC07 in full.

Good luck !

The bar brush does not spin. I opened the vacuum head and the drive belt to the bar brush is loose. I don't see how you remove the slack from the belt.

you have to have it in the carpet setting in order to put pressure on the v-belt. there is no way to tighten up the v-belt, but i would try to replace the big flat belt. if you haven't changed this belt in over 6 months, i would change it. ( on average belts need to be changed every 6-8 months). the reason is that the belt streches over time and doesn't have enough tention to ingage the v-belt in order for the brush to work. hope this helps

The brush bar on my Dyson DC17 stopped turning.

If this model has a brush control - i.e a roller at the side of the model which controls brush to spin or not, then its a protected brush model - therefore even if the drive belt is intact the Dyson would have to be repaired by a service personnel or professional. The brush protection isn't able to be taken apart and sounds like it may well have slipped off due to tension.

I changed the belt on my vacuum, and the belt burned up,and snapped.Right after I changed it.Am I missing a piece??

Sometimes it can depend on the quality of the belt - if its brand new then it shouldn't snap the moment it is changed; if its an older belt sometimes they can break up the moment they're changed. Ensure that the model you have is correct with the correct product code of the drive belt. Also Check that the sides of the brush bar are not clogged with dirt - one way to check would be to check the brush bar rolls freely with no belt on it before putting a new one on. Another issue is something my old LG upright used to do - it used to break new belts even when the roller brush was completely clear - and the only way to get it to stop was to replace the heavy dirt bag with a new one. It seems the slightest bit of strain on a motor can make things like belts break. Hope all this info helps.
