Bosch TF 250 hot water service, can not get the pilot light to stay on...

I also found that problem. Iinitiallly a change of batteries helped but the iginition kept firing all the time and the next batteries were empty after two weeks. Eventually new batteries could not fix the problem. Yes it seems that the power supply from the battery 1.5V to the High Voltage converter runs via a thermo couple. But shorting this did not help the ignition problem. How can I check whether the HV converter is broken?

Yep sounds familiar, mine starts intermitently. I've put a ammeter between the feed to the pilot solenoid (green one) and the solenoid valve itself and measured 10mA. I've then removed the solenoid and fed it directly from a 1.5V cell with the same ammeter setup and measured 30mA continuous. I've then put a voltmeter across the battery box and tried to start the heater (turned on the tap). Battery voltage hardly drops at all. I therefore think there must be a transistor in control box with has gone low current gain. To check it I got he missus to turn the water on with me giving a direct 1.5V feed from the battery box to the pilot solenoid and voila! She fired up! Plumbing supplier now want $150 for new controller *!!@

Dec 28, 2015 | Bosch & Tankless LP Hot Water Heater

My fathers Bosch water wizard tf 250 will not start. the water will flow but no gas will not ignite or come through the pipe to the heater. the gas bottle is full. thanks Dave Tooley

Dave, make sure that the gas valve on the Propane tank, is fully open and that the inline gas shutoff valve near the heater is turned ON. Those are the basic two things that would prevent the gas from flowing thru the gas line, to the heater.

If the above valves are ON, the problem then lies with the gas control valve on the water heater. If it has pilot light that has to be lit, make sure that the heater's gas control valve is properly in the PILOT Position, before attempting to light it. It must be able to be pushed ALL the way in and you should feel strong pressure pushing back at you (other than spring pressure). When you feel that, it's in the PILOT Position and ready to be lit. Once it's lit, continue to hold the Pilot Button in for 1 minute, then release it. If the Pilot stays lit, turn it to the ON Position.

Hope this helped you to troubleshoot and solve the problem. Please let me know. Thanks.

I have a Bosch Water Wizard 10P - have no hot water, no water comes out the hot water tap, can't light Pilot Light, not sure where to start would love a step by step diagram how to start pilot light -...

Open following link for Bosch tankless troubleshooting resources, including Bosch contact information, typical manuals, error codes, tech support, parts, fuel-saver calculator, service bulletins, water heater forum, fixya links, disclaimers, and links for finding service technician.
http://waterheatertimer.org/Troubleshoot-Bosch-Tankless-water-heater.html

Before calling service technician, read manual for fault finding and possible solutions.
Read manual cover to cover, make sure tankless receives yearly maintenance as outline in manual.

Following links talk about keeping pilot lit, and describe location somewhat. Bosch water wizard has standing pilot light.

1) The manual does not show diagrams you asked for.

2) Website that sells Bosch parts does not show parts for water wizard, nor does Bosch site for parts: Instruction manual says: replace pilot injector

http://www.houseneeds.com/shop/heatingproducts/waterheating/parts/bosch2400espartsbuy.asp#

3) Searching "pilot injector for Bosch Water wizard" turns up fixya questions which is generally bad news for do-it-yourselfer because it means information sources are through service technician.

4) As a general rule, tankless are not do-it-yourself repairs or installation because they are affected by so many internal and external factors, including air quality, air flow, venting, other gas appliances, gas pressure, gas supply, water pressure, water flow, plumbing problems, water quality, plus internal parts and including any combination of things listed above..
Replacement parts each come will disclaimer.

TF-250 Boschs water heater is not producing any hot water. Pilot light is on but the ignition for the burners will not work. Is there a simple solution to this problem without replacing any parts?

I don't know. Tankless problem can be internal and external factors, or combination of factors, and vary by model, and brand.
For example low gas pressure, or gas valve partially closed (gas handle should be parallel to gas line), gas line should be 3/4", venting could be issue, or failed sensor, or gas control, or circuit board.

I don't know how to restart my old bosch water wizard 10p, pilot light has gone out.

get a long stick match, a flashlight remove lower inspection cover, find thermocouple and pilot light will be next to it,turn gas valve to pilot light and hold down, stick the match in by thermocouple till the pilot lights and hold valve down till pilot stays lit, this may take a minute or more, then release gas valve and see if pilot stays lit, if not retry,if it wont stay lit,the thermocouple is defective and needs replacement

What's up with My Bosch Hot water heater??

it sounds like a thermocoupler
its located inside the unit next to the pilot flame and should be screwed in next to the pilot button at the other end

1 Answer

No hot water

If the pilot light stays on, the thermocouple and pilot flame are good. If you turn the control to "on" and turn up the thermostatic control knob to call for heating and get nothing else then the control (gas valve, thermostatic control) is bad. The control can be replaced - they are mostly generic except for gas type - but they are not cheap and if the control is bad the tank is probably not far behind (changing the control could cause it to leak). Unless the water heater is less than 3-5 years old, replace the whole thing!

Tankless water heater pilot light will not stay on

It is most likely the water valve stuck open, telling the controls to heat water, that it thinks is flowing through it, but without actual flow it overheats. Depending on how comfortable you are with taking it apart yourself, you could open the valve to see if it just needs cleaned out, or if you have a ruptured diaphragm or some other cause.
