Question about GE Heating & Cooling

Air conditioner not working

I have a General Electric A/C & heating unit. There is no model number anywhere on it, however I know it has been in the apartment for at least 5 years. The heat works but i can't get the A/C or the fan to work. What should I look for to try to start the A/C?

If it is a heat pump it could be a couple of difrent problems .thermo stat or the transformer that goes to the thermostat would be the most likely cause for thi prroblem is the air conditioner central or window unit?

How to tell if your unit is a heat pump or just air conditioner with electric heat strip

PTH is a heat pump. PTC is an air conditioner only. I don't believe Amana makes electric heat strip-only models based on what I see in their literature. You can just do a google search and look for yourself.

Morning, I got a external unit SH24BP2X samsung fro air conditionning, and I'ld like to buy an indoor unit. Is anybody can give me ref which match with this unit. I need 5/6 kw heating power. Thanks...

The 24 in your model number means 24,000 btus. There is 12 thousand btus in a ton of cooling. This makes your unit a two ton. You can buy a air handler sent up for two tons of cooling and then buy what every electric heat pack that you need. let me know. wally

Need to know the size (btu) of a old ge unit model# BGTA9601A

This is a large unit going by the model number.12,000 BTU's per ton. It would be a 5 ton unit, or 60,000 BTU's.

I need to know what size central heat and air unit i need for my house

Absolutely, can you give me the following info?
Do you have ducting? If so how many vents? How many return vents, and what size? How many square feet do you have to heat and cool? Are you replacing an old unit? If so whats the old units model number and make? Are you buying the Heat Pump, gas furnace, electric furnace, or dual fuel, or Air conditioner?

Thanks a lot of questions, but extremely important in sizing your home.
