1). Immediately pick out the inner memory card of your digital camera in case that any newly taken picture would rewrite your original photos.
2). Insert this memory card to your computer via a card Reader and prepare to retrieve all your deleted pictures.
3). Apply a deleted photo recovery freeware to retrieve all your deleted photos back successfully:
http://blog4mark.blogspot.com/2012/12/photo-recovery-after-delete.html
I believe this data recovery freeware can work perfectly on your camera memory card just in the same way as it completely retrieves all the deleted data of my friend off from his phone memory card. Just give it a shot!
4). Save and back up all the restored photos on a different memory card or drive in case of data recovery failure.
Note: Never forget to back up everything important at least on two memory cards or locations in the future.
Good luck!

If you are using a memory card, take no more pics until you've recovered the photos, take the card out of the camera. This is to reduce the chance of you overwriting some of your "lost" photos. There are many good freeware photo recovery software options that are available to help you recover your photos. This blog article reviews and outlines several of the better ones.

If all your images are backed up on your computer, just format the media card IN THE CAMERA, and that should re-set everything for you when next you take a photo.

Hello,
The DCIM folder should not be hidden, but if it is, you can show hidden and system files if you go into the control panel and select folder options. Click on "Show hidden and system files.

Unable to open dcim folder from disk

Data center infrastructure management (DCIM) folder is gone when a card has been formated or deleted or has failed. If the pictures where deleted on the computer you can get them back by recycle bin. If there not there you can download recovera at Filehippo.com if that dosent find them they are most likly gone. You need to format the card and put back in camera and take a picture then insert back into computer and see if it created your DCIM folder back.

I accidentally deleted my DCIM and MISC folder from my memory card ... I can't see the pictures I take .... how can I fix this mess!!!! Please help

Use software like PhotoRescue. Unless the photos were erased and then written over, they're probably still there. I used un-delete recovery software and it found my photos even after I had formatted the card and used it again to take more photos.

I know it's a late reply but other people may want to know you can find and recover deleted photos.

How to delete photos from the DCIM section of my camera.

DCIM is a folder inside the camera. You can right click on the folder while the camera or card is connected to computer and select delete.

the camera will create a new dcim folder when it takes more picture.

let me know if you need anything else or if you need further assistance with this issue.

thanks and good luck.

DCIM folder turned to a file after windows scandisk fixed a reported problem

Hi, I don't know if you'll get this message, but it's worth a shot. I am having the same problem and I wanted to see if you ever found out how to get your pictures back. I don't have the same camera as you but the same thing happened to me. I'm on Windows 7 though now. Thanks

Picture folder won't open

If the DCIM folder is where the camera keeps its images, then you have no images on the card.

Otherwise, have a browse through the memory card for another folder. The folders are named differently depending on your camera. My Pentax keeps them in "DCIM", but Kodak (for example) might keep them in a different folder.

Not able to 'delete' a picture from my Lumix TZ3

Sounds like a MobileMate quirk Tanya. Use your USB cable connection to your PC/Camera interface and delete pics that way too see if this funny goes away.

If it does, and I believe it will, then it is a SanDisk issue not revising the File Allocation Table(FAT) after deleting the Pic File on the mem card.

You could also find out if this is just an SDHC SD card reader issue by using an older less dense standard 1 or 2Meg non-SDHC mem card in the reader and see if issue goes away.

The fallback of course to view and delete the pics on the camera before download, or download pics then note which pic file numbers you want deleted after viewing on PC, then put SD card back in camera and delete them there.

Another option for trial, is to cut and paste the whole DCIM folder, or sub pic folder to your PC from off the SD card using the card reader. The camera automatically generates subfolders under the DCIM folder if you completely remove(deleting by a cut or move), when you take your first picture on a camera with a DCIM but not sub pic folder. Try this first and I think you will find all pics will be deleted from camera that are in a subfolder under DCIM. If not, then cut or move the whole DCIM folder and create a new DCIM(empty) folder on the SD card using the PC and card reader. Of course using this method you cannot selective delete individual pics from the mem card. You would be deleting them all after the Folder cut or move from the SD card.

Unable to view the pictures folder

Hi, I got the solution for myself. Initially I have enabled to view the hidden folder option and even then I was not able to see the folder, then later I have disabled the options Hide Extensions for Known file types and Hide Protected Operating system files. Then I could see the folder and able to retrieve the photos. Once I have taken my photos I have formatted my MMC card and it is working normally.
