Try to adjust the resolution of your screen go to your desktop wallpaper. right click and then hit on properties. it should pull up another window. hit on ADVANCED you should be able to see there Screen Resolution. drag it down to lets say 1024x768 and hit apply.

now check if its still doing the same problem.

My proview monitor stays on for 10 sec then goes black. but i can faintly see my page.

This indicates an inverter board failure, caused by bad capacitors that sometimes bulge at the top showing that they are open, an attempt can be made to repair or replace the board.

My Monitor will not say on. Keeps turning off or Black screen when i click to do something. I am using my Laptop to ask this question

blorip, You will need to prove that x193w lcd monitor also does same when connected to different "known-good" pc!! Learn how to tell the difference between a "black screen" and a "black n blank screen" with use of a bright flashlight held 1 inch from lcd panel and at different angles. Yes, there is a difference!!! If problem proves not to be PC software, then must be problem with ccfl back-lit lcd display. You should view DIY repair and disassembly video clips at YOUTUBE before attempting to do any repairs to your Acer unit. Read some stuff in my fixya profile( pages 30 and up) for more info and links. Also view fixya profiles of "budmrtn" and "buddymc" . Follow links you find in profiles. Good luck with the repair. 12fixlouie

Dell E228WFP monitor cutting off, goes black

sysjrm, You need to visit YOUTUBE for video clips of "lcd monitor repair" to see if DIY project is what you can handle!!! After you "learn by seeing" some printed circuit "switch-mode-power-supply/inverter boards" having their "aluminum-can" electrolytic filter capacitors replaced and/or "thermally-intermittant" fractured solder-joints "resoldered" then you will be able to make decision on what to do about attempting a repair to your E228WFP! Note!!!! Make certain that your pc is not the cause of your BLACK SCREEN or BLACKnBLANK SCREEN problem/symptom by connecting a "known-good" monitor to your pc first!!! Please read the higher numbered(32 and up) pages in my fixya profile for more information on how to do the simple "flashlight test" for evaluating the state of shutdown that the switch-mode-supply may be in. Also read and follow the links you find in the profiles of "budmrtn" and "buddymc" that are very good ccfl back-lit lcd monitor technicians here on fixya. After you do your web research, remember to come back to this posting and do a comment and rating of this response if you feel that it has steered you in the right direction. Good luck with the repair. 12fixlouie

HI, I have a NEC monitor 1760nx, dark blotches on the screen

Listen, for what it is going to cost you to fix the unit, you are better off replacing it and having a new warranty to boot. Simply not cost effective to repair given the cost of a new monitor these days.

Gateway FPD1750 monitor's keep go black screen, no picture at al

tgordon60, If you know how those NEW "CURLIE-Q" energy efficient CFL light bulbs produce WHITE LIGHT, then you will know what makes an LCD display panel produce all the pretty colors and the WHITE BACKGROUND of the FIXYA web page!!! Only difference is that your "cold-cathode-fluorescent-lamps" are thinner and straight, and hung on rear of LCD glass panel and have a DC to AC electronic ballast called an "INVERTER" circuit to produce 600 to 1000vac to light them up. Get to my FIXYA profile and read my responses to other BLACK screen lcd owners to learn about all your options for repair. Follow any of the links to other web pages you find there. Your monitor not any different than ACER, DELL, VIEWSONIC, BENQ, SONY, AOC!!!!! 12fixlouie aka louie12fix

My monitor has a horrible lag

Your monitor should have a reasonable to good refresh rate so I doubt it's at fault. It sounds as if you have another program running in the background which is slowing your computer down. Press the keys CTRL. ALT and DELETE at the same time and have a look to see what's running. Close down any programs you aren't using and see if that fixes things. Another problem could be a shortage of memory. I'd recommend no less than 512 Megabytes or ram with Windows XP. If you could give me more info as to which operating system you're using, how fast is the CPU and how much memory etc it would be easier to diagnose. One last thing, you could have a virus and it's chewing up memory. Do you have an up to date virus checker? If not install AVG. it's completely free and available on the net. While you're at it install a spyhunter program and malware checker. There's some weird rogue nasties crawling all over the net. You could've even installed a nasty along with a freebie program you got off the net. BMW
