I don't want to receive emails on my phone anymore. The feature is eating my battery at a high rate. How do I turn it off?

Thanks for looking at my problem. I am using gmail.

  • Peter Simon Oct 04, 2010

When I look at my gmail account with safari or chrome, it doesn't look at all like your screen shots. I have disabled something call POP in gmail=>settings=>"Forwarding & POP/IMAP". The notificaton under calander=>settings had nothing about SMS, but there was a notice there in red that said "notifications have been turned off."

Does this mean I no will no longer be having the email from my hotmail account forwarded to gmail (which receives no mail of it's own), so gmail will no longer send notifications to my phone? Or do I have it all wrong? I don't understand why your screens are so much different from mine (I don't know how to make screen shots, much less include them in a comment).

    Please advise.

    Thanks.

    Peeter

On a second look, my screens are the same as yours, and I found where it had the SMS notification check boxes. They were already unchecked. I am pretty sure that those notifications have to do with calendar events, not email, and I never use the calendar, anyway.

Can you shed any light on this?

    Thanks.

OK. If I have no mail on the phone in the morning, I'll know it worked. I'll let you know.

    Thanks.

Okay, no new emails in 12 hours. If google doesn't have my phone number I guess it can't call me!

    Thanks a lot!

The solution was more than helpful, it fixed the problem! What more can I ask! I was particularly impressed by the fact that screenshots were included, Once I figured out what I was doing, they were helpful.

I will be glad to give you the "Thumbs." How do I do that?

Sorry for the delay, it took me several minutes to prepare the illustrations (pictures) and more than that, I made a mistake and all the prepared documents were lost as the page was refreshed :-)

    Follow the instructions:

Login to your Gmail Account, and look at the top (left) corner of the page, you'll see "Calendar", click it..

Now, on the next page, look at the right (extreme top) corner of the page and click "Settings" and select "Calendar Settings"

    Again click "Calendars"

and then in the middle of the page, click "Notification"

On the notification page, look on the page and locate "SMS" (Left side of the page) and deselect all the check marks in the "SMS" column..

    Save the settings:

and return to your account or sign off.

Usually sms notification about the deactivation.

You'll never receive any more sms alerts on your mobile. If you want to reactivate the alert, simply follow the steps and select all the check marks, then save the settings and you are done.

If you need further help, let me know.

    Good luck.

    Thanks for using FixYa.

Hasbro doesn't even have FurReal ponies on their site anymore and emails don't get answered. I would call Hasbro directly from the following link and ask about the battery compartment.

I just received an email from a contact I deleted, because he told me not to open any from his because he has a virus. Now why doesn't my protection company pick that up, Norton, or AVG, I have both...

First of all, having two Security Program in your laptop is not a good idea. Most of the time it creates conflict and would result into some sort of confusing each other whom would detect that virus. Other than that, having two security software would slow down the computer performance as both programs would eat large amount of your RAM. Best thing to go here is to uninstall either AVG or Norton. I recommend AVG as it has this feature called Email Scanner which would help detecting such virus that goes through emails. For more AVG FAQ you may check. www.avg.com/faq

Battery problem

Try upgrading the firmware on it. It depends mostly on what you are using on the device. If you do a lot of data-centric things like constant emailing, surfing the web, YouTube, etc. then you are going to use more battery. Applications running in the background also eat up battery life to keep active. Bluetooth uses more battery compared to using the phone itself. Lots of texting eats up battery life as well, both incoming and outgoing. Wi-Fi eats up battery like there is no tomorrow on just about any device. The TouchFlo 3D interface also uses more battery due to the graphics acceleration. You can turn off the TouchFlo interface to save battery power and go back to the regular Today screen. The device was tested for battery life with TouchFlo enabled however so that's more of an icing on the cake type of change for more power.

You may also want to try deep cycling the battery to see if that helps. Run the battery completely dead so it won't turn on the device anymore. The let it charge for 10-12 hours without the device on. That should cycle the battery and recalibrate the meter.

There are many diffferent reasons you could have lower battery life, it's always different for different people. HTC managed to keep the Touch Pro's battery life around the same as the Mogul even with the graphics acceleration and everything running. So simply turning off TouchFlo will probably increase total battery life by a bit.

you could upgrade to a higher MAH battery too.

My n 900 have only 5 hours battery back up and loose full battery charge without using mobile

if you have any email messaging service on this phone that needs to connect to the server to check emails even without using it it will try to sync to the server to get an email and its eating up the battery charge.

theres a settings to check the email every 5 mins or so, you can set it to manually sync your email so it wont eat up your battery life.
Its also applicable if the wifi is on because it will try to search for a wireless network.

hope this help.

If ever non of this is enable with your device, no email messaging or wifi is off. then use a known good battery. the battery pack that came with your device is defective

Blackberry pearl 8100 wont let me email pics

Assuming you have an 8100 pearl I believe for some reason this phone does not do mms. either that or the following is true.

With certain wireless providers a BB data plan may be required for MMS to function. For example, T-Mobile has a $0.00 feature that can be added to a persons account to enable MMS (which is included in messaging packages) without enabling full data capabilities. I believe Alltel offers a similiar feature. Contrastingly, ATT BB's cannot send or receive MMS without the $30, minimum, BB data feature being on the account. I'm waiting for a class action suit against ATT for taking subscribers money for messaging packages, that include picture messaging, but not providing all of the services being paid for by some PDA phone users.
