Ice maker is working. Water dispenser is not working. I did the initial diagnosis and the water line is not frozen. How do I replace the water valve or is that the right next step?
Ice maker bad or the ice maker water valve mounted on the same bracket as the dispenser is bad. These frigs are prone to bad ice makers after a few years.
I have a GE TFX25ppbaaa refrigerator. The ice maker corkscrew motor would run and provide crushed ice only. The corkscrew motor would not run when the switch was moved to the cubed ice ( half moon) setting.
I replaced the large Light/ water/ crushed ice/cubed ice switch , ( product service number GEH WR55X129 ) ( part number GE 162D6372 PO17 )and it fixed the problem. Cost was about $43.00.
Take the icemaker out and let it sit in the sink for around 12 hours. Then put it back in. This has worked for me when I have the same problem. I think that the water line is freezing up. I have to do this every month or two.
I have the same problem, although mine is intermittent. Apparently it's a problem with the line freezing. For an excellent discussion of the issue, see http://www.askmehelpdesk.com/advice/t-14182.html
