What is a glider? My dryer has started making some loud noises and the cloth like material that goes around it in the inside has ripped into shreds. Is this what is causing the loud noises? How and where do I go to get a replacement for this?

Mde 9700ayw does not have glides.Noise probably coming from worn rollers(2 in front@2 in back). This model also has drum cracking issue and rear drum bulkhead may also need to be replaced. Parts over $500 on this samsung/maytag. Best solution buy new.

The gliders are a piece of hard plastic that set on the frame, the peice that holds the drum, their is 4 of them and they are on top of the frame, the felt liner is what supports the bottom of the drum on the fram.

Dryer Repair Squeaks, Grinding, Clicking and Knocking Noise

Your dryer has started making noises. The common noises that can happen are squeaks, grinding, bumping, clicking, or knocking. I will give some of the common reasons why your clothes dryer could be making these noises.

Loud noise from your dryer often is the result of excessive wear of the parts inside of the clothing dryer.

Many dryers use a type of glides or slide for the drum of the dryer to ride on. As the dryer heats then up they wear away. The heat from the inside of the dryer and the friction heat will eventually wear them down. When the glide material is worn away the metal of the drum will start to rub against the metal support behind the glide. Metal on metal will make a very irritating squeaking noise, or grinding noise. If this happens, replace the glides.

Other dryers use a type of wheel or roller to support the rotating drum. These rollers turn on a sort of bearing that in often no more then a pin through a bushing. After a period of time the lubrication will dry up or otherwise go away and the assembly will quickly wear out and start to make a clicking noise, or a knocking noise, or even a grinding noise. In any case these often make a loud noise that can be very annoying. If you have a wheel or roller that is making noises then replace all of them, because the others are soon going to go bad also.

On some dryers there is a rear drum bearing. This center spindle supports the drum instead of rollers, wheels, or glides. This spindle will have a bearing assembly of some type that it spins on. This bearing also may start to squeak, grind, or make a loud noise.
If you have this type of dryer then you can replace this when it goes bad.

Another source of dryer noise is the belt. The belt often will make a different noise that will be more of a knocking or thumping noise. Pieces of the belt may come out of the belt and it still is not broken. As the gaps in the belt run over the idler pulley or the drive pulley the belt will make a thumping or knocking noise.

The idler pulley can also be a source of noise. This also has a bearing in it that will wear out. The noises made from this are similar to the rollers or wheels. If you have these kinds of noises coming from your dryer, you need to figure out what the exact cause of the problem is so that you know you are changing the right parts. Or you can just change all of the rotating parts to make sure that you get the problem fixed. The parts involved are not that expensive to replace.

Finally the blower wheel that moves air through your dryer can become clogged with dirt and lint or just plain wear out. If it is loose or out of balance it will make all kinds of funny noises. Cleaning it may help but replacement is probably the best fix. If it is still noisy after cleaning, then replace it.

This should give you a good overview of the possible causes for noise from your clothes dryer. As you can see there are numerous possibilities or causes for noise. Take your time and eliminate them one by one till the cause is found. Repairing them is not that hard and the parts are not that costly.

Forgot to put the lint trap back into LG Ventless Dryer DLEC855W. Clothing might have gotten stuck inside. Dryer now making grinding noise and drum is moving slowly. Is it time to call a repairman?

The filter simply allows the dryer air to pass through and trap the lint so it will not collect in the exit tube or on the outer vent parts. If anything, the clothes inside the bin will just spin around and be there when you finish. The noise inside the dryer could be from something that was in the pant or shirt pocket and was floating around.

My beko condenser tumble dryer is drying fine but is making a loud scraping noise. When I took out the clothes there was a strip of white felt in the washing

Looks daunting to start with but just done mine,
remove top and all rear covers and rear panel after removing drum split washer, pump hoses, belt and elec connection, remove the drum and you will see where the felt seal goes. i had some felt i cut to 12mm wide and siliconed it in place, left to dry for 6 hrs, now runs fine.

Dryer makes a loud sqeecking noise while drying clothes

Hello- It is likely the the front bearing is worn-out and/or the teflon gliders have worn down and the drum is rubbing on the upper plastic bearing, fairly common issue with these. Have someone out the take a look. I would give them the Model and serial number so they can have the parts with them thus potentially saving you another service call. Best regards.

Check the belt idlers or the gasket around the drum might be getting old

Dryer makes alot of noise when drying clothes.

First you will have to locate the two screws inside the dryer. Open the door and look up inside the trim around the opening of the dryer. Take them out then the top of the dryer will come right out. Look at the very from of the dryer. There should be 4 small "slides" attached to a trim piece. If there are any missing that is probably your problem. I just went through this problem. The pieces each are no longer than an 2" each but cost almost 8.00 a piece. They are easy to replace though. You might also have to replace the whole trim piece as I did because it was completely worn out. Very easy to replace.
