I create a new user (while logged in as admin) and the new user login never works, even immediately after being created. I can create a password, and isn't report that the password failed, just that the "User Profile Service service failed the logon." This is a new computer, just a few days out of the box and this is one of the first things I've tried to do with Vista.

The user profile seems to have corrupted. The account that you log into is corrupt now may be due to incompatencies or incompatibility or may be a virus or a spyware. Alternatively, you can try logging to safe mode window. As you start the computer keep tapping the F8 key on your keyboard at the sametime. You would reach a screen to choose from different boot options. Select safe mode(you would have to use the arrow keys in your keyboard). Log in with the usual username and password. If it logs in, you might see a black window with large icons. Don't worry. Go go start, control panel, user accounts, and create a new account. So you can use the new account. Restart the computer and login to the new user account. You should be good. Make sure the account you create should be an administrator. Later if you want you can delete the user account that you have been using before. You can delete it from safe mode again by going to control panel, user accounts.

Why does my computer say the user profile service failed the logon

The error has to do with windows not being able to read the user profile for some reason. Always try a restart first if that does not fix it then look at this article from Microsoft on how to fix it. You receive The User Profile Service failed the logon error message

I would like to introduce Windows Password Key 8.0 . it not only supports XP, 2000, and NT, I have personally tested it with Vista Home Premium and Ultimate. It creates a password recovery CD/DVD,USB Flash Drive for home, business and enterprise. It works perfectly to reset your Windows password. You can download it from http://www.lostwindowspassword.com
