My speaker in my Tomtom Go 300 has stopped working. It must be the TT as the volume is ok on Tomtom Home on my PC. Has anybody got an idiots guide to replacing the speaker as my TT is so old it's too...

You might have muted the sound from your device. In Map view, tap anywhere on the screen. Locate the icon Change Preferences. tap that icon, then tap the right pointing arrow until you reach the sound icon. An X should be crossing it.

Cracked touch screen on TomTom

Your best option is Ebay

Prices are pretty good and there are a lot of reputable dealers with BRAND NEW parts.

Replacing them is also pretty simple to do yourself but if you feel uncomfortable I am sure a local electronics repair shop could do it quickly and cheaply.

Tomtom one xl replacement screen

Your best bet is to purchase a non working unit from ebay with a good screen (ask if the unit has a good screen before bidding). I do this all the time. A new screen depending on your model will usually cost more than buying a new unit. Goggle changing the LCD screen on your model to learn how it is done. The tools you will need are not expensive. For most models you will need a # 8 and # 6 torx bit and a guitar pic to open the case.
Hope this helps

TOMTOM GO 300 THe LCD screen won't light up.

Screens that don't light up are usually caused by the bulb going ( called " The Backlight " ). Unfortunatly , on a TomTom it is intergral with the screen so cannot be replaced seperatly. You can only replace the whole screen. There are other possiblities for the screen not lighting such as the ribbon cable that goes to the screen might not be quite plugged in right or theres a break in that ribbon cable + other reasons that become less likely as we go down the list. A simple test with a miltimeter by someone with knowledge of tomtoms will prove or disprove the backlight working and you should then know where you stand. Good luck.

Change the language

I have a TomTom One 3rd Edition, so if your model is different, the menus/icons may not be the same. However, it's worth a shot.

Tap the main part of the screen to bring up the main menu. You will see an upper and a lower row of icons. Click on the blue "wrench" icon (lower row, center icon). Then, click the arrow (the blue triangle) on the next 3 screens. When you see the icon with 3 waving flags (top row, left icon), click on it. Then scroll down to select either English UK or English US.
