My Aiwa px e860 record player arm is too heavy how do I adjust it?

If you put the maker and model number into Google you will find a service manual free for the make. That should help you sort out the problem. It's just a question of getting the weight at the other end of the arm adjusted right.

Look on the platter for somekind of location pin that the record will hit to tell the player what size record you have. Some of the more expensive players have a light near the stylus that shines down and by reflection of the light back up to the stylus will tell the player what size.

This model uses a ceramic cartridge. Sometimes the stylus holding part can become damaged. It should be possible to get a new cartridge and stylus for the unit. It looks as it will either screw or just clip into the headshell. Either way look around for a replacement cartridge. If it has a number on the cartridge quote that. Remember it's a ceramic type - not magnetic.

Record player head goes a few songs in on start up

not sure what you mean Ryan ... do you mean the arm swings to the middle of the record when you set it down in the groove? if so the arm is out of balance and you need to balance the weight forward. if there is no weight adujustment then your works off a spring and there a million ways to adjust that. Try balancing a penny on top of the head where the cartridge is to hold it done, if this temporarily solves the problem then teh arm is out of balance.

Want to replace the needle on model #825 Fisher Price record player. Is there an easy way to raise the needle arm to view the cartridge slot or just slide new cartridge in from the front?

If you remove the lid off the player, the arm then swings all the way backwards and allows you ample viewing for needle replacement when turned upside down.

Trouble with cartridge alignment

Hi, i was going to suggest a dedicated cartridge weiging scales but the one one the arm should suffice.
Normally it should be between 1.5 and 2 grams, as a ball park figure , though some will vary quite considerably.I think this can take upto 5 grams( a bit heavy really)
Looking at the picture, it looks like the stylus cantilever has colapsed, by someone dropping the cartidge onto the record.
If you think the alignment is out then you neded to buy a Cartidge allignment protractor, so you can setup your cartidge properly and don't ruin your records.
You could try and loosed the cartridge bols and move the cartridge so its parallel with the front of the head shell.

Are you using it for DJ use or just for listening to music?

I have just found on ebay, this -

If you need more help, please ask.

Change arm for RB300 for better quality

Hi, I wouldn't bother,
1/ too good for turntable &
2/ I don't think it is replaceable.
3/ put a decent cartidge on it.(goldring or grado)
4/ if you have the rb300 already then give it a go and put something like a goldring on it.
I am not 100% it is changeable.

Good Luck

If you need more help, let me know.

Fisher price 1978 record player

The Fisher Price record player has a device that prevented kids from pressing the needle down and sctratching the record. If you look at the cartridge where the needle is inserted, you will see that it floats up and down. The problem is that this keeps the needle from having enough pressure to play the record. Pennies just make the cartridge recede further into the arm. If you wedge something above the cartridge, the needle won't float and the it will play your records. I've had four of these and none of them worked until I figured this out.
