I have a Creative Vision

I have a Creative Vision M mp3 player which keeps turning itself off, fast forwarding, skipping tracks and distored sound quality. Creative has been no help. I believe it to be a problem with the earphone jack as it works perfectly when headphones are removed. Any idea's on how to fix this??
