The picture went out on my TV

This is not a user repairable issue and would require a TV repair shop. You may want to consider a new flat screen TV before spending the money on repairs.

My tv has several white horizontal lines running across the top of the tv screen the tv brand is an Insignia SDTV and its an older tv what can be done to remove these lines?

This is a retrace blanking problem. Probably, the Vg2 voltage is too high, so the cut-off point from the picture tube is not correct. Try to lower this voltage. On most common flyback trafo's it is the lower adjusting screw (plastic kind of button) which is used to set the Vg2 voltage. Turn it a bit CCW until the white lines disappear.

Have a insignia tube style tv picture went to a single horozontal line in the middle of the screen....I think my mother inlaw hit a button on remote that made this happen. But cant see menu to fix as line...

HELLO
What you have here is called Field Collapse. There is fault in the FIELD stage of the TV. It will be caused by the field IC chip going open circuit or maybe electrolytic capacitors.
Either way, if you can't fix the set yourself, you will have to get it to a service centre. (:-)

Turned on, and picture went out(just a line)with sound. never had problem with picture, but remote stop working about a year ago, cable tech said its tv not the remote

If it's a horizontal line across the face of the picture tube, your TV has a problem with its vertical output. Most likely, it's bad solder connections to the vertical output IC. Because this part gets very hot during normal operation, the connections to the circuit board can crack and the part quits working. All you see then is that narrow line across the tube. A few minutes with a soldering iron to repair the connections is usually all that's needed to fix the TV. It's also possible the part has truly failed, but the bad connections a much more common. A service shop could do the repair if you don't know anyone with the soldering skills.

Had the same problem with mine. The vertical hold chip broke loose from the solder,Resoldered it works fine. You will need a magnifying glass to see this on the bottom of the board.

The vertical output IC LA7847 is failing. It will likely fail permanately and you will have just the horizontal line. The set will require service. Just do not run the set very long in this state. That thin white line can likely burn into the crt phospher and will show all the time thus ruining the glass picture tube...
