I have the same situation - the red alarm light comes on if the door has been opened. The repair man said it is either a block in the condenser - $300 for repairs or problems with the condenser itself - $500-$700 for repairs + $78 to be taken to the repair shop.

It could be the thermostat. Before getting into that you should check a few other things. Check and make sure the condenser on the unit is clean and has free air around it. On some models the outer skin of the refrigerator or freezer acts as the surface for transferring the heat from inside to the outside air. These should be kept free of those stick um objects and the top is no storage area. On a frost free unit make sure it is frost free. Check the back wall for frost . If there is frost on the back wall the defrost system is not functioning properly. Check the temperature. Depending on what you are storing determines what temperature is necessary.

My Westinghouse Frost Free fridge is not working. The freezer is working. It is has the freezer on top of the fridge, separate doors

Even though it is frost free, try defrosting it by turning it off with the doors open for a few hours. There may be ice or something else blocking the vent between the freezer and refrigerator sections. Of course you will need to remove everything from the fridg and freezer and store it somewhere else that is cold.

Items in freezer are gathering significant front, when the freezer should be frost free

A frost free freezer typically relies on a "fan" to vent that area of moisture. So, if the fan/vent is not working properly, the moisture in the freezer stays and become frost. Frost can also form if / when the freezer door is not closing properly / completely ... allowing air / moisture to enter the fridge/freezer . Have those checked out first.

ne of the most common reasons for the freezer to start failing is called "frost free failure." Ice can build up on the evaporator coils over time, and this ice builds up until it starts blocking the fan. The fan is responsible for circulating cold air throughout the freezer, so if it is blocked the freezer will not be able to freeze any food. You can usually check this by removing an access panel in the back of the freezer to inspect the coils. If ice is built up on the coils, a hairdryer can assist in defrosting them

Fridge and freezer stopped working lioghts still work

check if the compresor still working first then the fan next to the compresor ...then the fan in the freezer , then see if there is frosting inside the freezer evaporator, but the main part is the compressor starter unit next to it... that might be the problem :)

Westinghouse Aurora Frost free fridge

You need to remove the clog in the drain line from the freezer to the condenser, Look under the fridge for the plastic drain line and blow it out or otherwise clear it, Then insure that the unit is level. Sooner or later you need to clean the freezer drain pan. After using up your frozen food, remove the back panels of the freezer and clean the area well.
