When turning the tv on, we get sound but no picture. The screen only has a faint glow to it, meaning that there is power to the screen.

Hello Shelley hi!, its a sign that the inverter board and or the lamp needs replacement. the inverter board produces power to lit the lamp. the inverter board on you TV is bad, making it produce less power, so less lamp glow. Have this replaced by a technician. to be safe, call your dealer for service. follow this link to have an idea. I'm not sure if parts are available. better call your Samsung dealer for proper advice.

Please Help. I have a 56" DLP Samsung and the lights just flash

Sounds like the lamp might be burned out. The Lamp should be replaced every couple years. If they are not replaced they will eventually burn out. Replacement is not that difficult and just requires a screwdriver. The lamp is located at the back of the DLP TV on the left side. The lamp can be purchased online from Samsung for about $130 dollars. You might be able to find a aftermarket one for less. Just use your telivision's model number located on the right side of the TV on sticker to cross reference the bulb that is needed or there might be a sticker on the back at the lamp housing that has the lamp part number. And make sure to spend the extra money and get the Lamp with the housing together. You can buy just the lamp for cheaper but that will require you to remove the old lamp from the housing and they are fragile. Much easier installation with the housing/lamp combo.

I have a samsung projection tv and it is starting to go dark on the screen could this be the bulb

There is a possibility it might be the lamp, if you've never replaced it on the TV it's better you replace it. It could also be a ballast issue, it depends of how old the TV is. for example if the TV is less than a year old, that would definitely not be your bulb. Bulb for Samsung are around 110 dlls and the ballast around 80 dlls, they have very good deals. If you're going to purchase the lamp, remember that it's best if you go with the original Philips lamp, otherwise it won't last that ling.

No picture, no sound on my Samsung 56" Projection TV

You probably need to replace the lamp. It's about $150, and if you buy it with the housing, it's a really easy fix, just unscrew and pull out the old one, and pop the new one in. Go here:

Power issues (Tv not turning on) were typically due to faulty ballast. While the TV reports a bad lamp it is the ballast itself causing the issue. Samsung is well aware and will replace both the ballast and the lamp (since the lamp can be prematurely aged but the bad ballast). After replacment most people stop having issues.

Bightness Change

It sounds like your lamp is going bad. The lamp part number is listed as "lamp code" on a sticker located on the left side of the set. Use this number to grab a replacement off ebay.
