Question about MSI Computers & Internet

1 Answer

I want an update for the BIOS on my computer. It is a Packard Bell iMedia 1569 with a Cuba MS-7301 version 1.0 baseboard. Can you help? I tried the various solutions (5) but none worked. the latest was from Technical114 who directed me to the "official site" and to the MSI LiveUpdate 4 tool but this failed to identify the current BIOS and also failed to give an update. Consequently, I do not feel that I've been given a solution...for which I have paid it seems. Please can you help?

Bios updates are usually nothing to do with the OS, so yes they should be ok with xp

Oh and will I lose all my saved documents, music, photos etc? Does it put me back to a start-again pc?
Sorry, should have asked this before.

IF the flash works, then you loose nothing, if it fails you could kill the PC completely.
If your computer is working, do not mess with flashing the bios on an older unsupported computer.
If it is not working because of a faulty bios, flashing will probably not help, if it is because you want to use a CPU that is not currently supported with the bios, its up to you whether its worth trashing your PC

Want to know whats the maximum hard drive i can put in my pc it as a bv cuba ms-7301

Generally, you can put 2 devices (hard drives or CD/DVD drives) per IDE chain and 1 device per SATA port. It appears there are 2 IDE chains and 2 SATA ports, so theoretically you could have 6 hard drives hooked up (assuming you don't use an optical drive). Four would need to be IDE, two SATA.

Ubuntu requires high graphic memory on your computer. It could install on some components but it doesn't work on whole installation process. If you are having a desktop machine, add graphic/video card to the motherboard so that Ubuntu will finally be installed in your computer.

Thanks
