Question about Office Equipment & Supplies

Hi On a Fellowes paper shredder for home use The printed circuit board that has the on/off switch has a resistor that seems to have overheated and failed It is labelled orca 5300*02 (ac) Is there a diagram to find resistor value and power rating or a replacement board Thanks

    Thanks

It is not a fax machine ...it is a paper shreder. I am familiar with the color code, yet, in this case we are going to either need the diagram or a source to buy the replacement PC board because the resistor is burnt, no colors are visible

    Any other ideas?

Felipe,
If it is a Chinese board there is not very much one do about them other than replacing the board as you are prepared for it. But before we do that lets try and decipher the resistor values. After that all you have to do is match the value and solder it to the board. Visit the following links and match the colors carefully to get the correct value.

Resistor values are defined by the colour bands on their bodies. An explanation of how to read the colours can be found at http://wiki.xtronics.com/index.php/Resistor_Codes
If you simply want the value there's a calculator at http://www.dannyg.com/examples/res2/resistor.htm
Just select the colours in the same order as they are on the resistor to find the value.

There is a website which offers circuit boards, and other spare parts, for paper shredders including Fellowes make at http://www.compax.com/shredders/parts.ht...
As I don't know your model I don't know if they have your model. They do say that if it's not advertised there to get in touch with them. I hope this helps

How do I get top off to clear Paper Jam on Fellowes PS-12Cs

FELLOWES SHREDDER
In case of a paper jam , which may occur if the shredder is pushed beyond its specified capabilities, press the control switch to the off [O] position and empty the basket if full. Then:
1) Press and hold control switch in reverse [R] position and attempt to back paper out of shredder.
2) If shredder jams in reverse mode, press control switch to automatic [I] position and attempt to continue shredding operation.
3) If shredder jams again, alternate control switch slowly between reverse [R] and automatic [I] positions to attempt to move jammed paper completely through shredder.
If you are unable to clear the jam using this method, turn off and unplug the shredder; remove the wastebasket from cabinet and carefully remove any paper extending below the cutting cylinders; empty the wastebasket; insert wastebasket and repeat jam clearing procedure.

Fellowes 99Ci won't turn on blue light, but fuse not gone

The motor may have overheated and failed. Also, there could be an accordion folded strip of paper jamming the works. Even the best shredders for home use seem to require regular removal of accumulated paper from the shredding mechanism because they are not self cleaning.

Fellowes PowerShred PS 40 with defective switch

Its just seated together with the gear/blades housing ,

make sure you didnt miss one screw, then pry and pull upward its just stuck as the gear housing and blades are pressed in and seat firmly making it seem like its stuck , over time all that paper goo is also binding it up .

Heres a few sites that have gears another that has manuals you may have to call or email as not all parts are listed on website

Overly loud shredding; stops prematurely

I have taken many shredders apart and found them so clogged up with shreds of paper and too much oil will turn into paper mud.Be bold and take the top off and clean it out. Unplug the power source and when removing the top , be careful because their will be a short cable connecting the top to the circuit board. Easy to damage.

Fellowes paper shredder

Though I only work with Fellowes shredders this sounds like a paper feed sensor issue. If your unit has a mechanical paper feed sensor you can try to jiggle it in and out to see if any paper may have become jammed behind switch. If the unit has an electronic sensor it may simply need to be cleaned with a Qtip dipped in rubbing alchohol.
If neither of these help your paper feed sensor or your pc1.gif board has gone bad and you will have to contact your manufacturer for further parts availability.
