19LVWk monitor has no sound, connected to Acer Computer. Computer does not have DVI connection, MONITOR DOES. How can I get sound from the monitor speakers?

There should be an audio plug(headphone jack) located next to VGA plug on the monitor. You will need an audio plug running from the Monitor to the computer audio plug...that will give you sound :)

Why no sound with HDMI input

It depends on the monitor, I suggest that you check the audio settings in the monitor. There should be no problem with the Roku, but just in case check also the audio output within Roku.
BTW, is the volume all the way up?

Can't hear volume from my monitor

We need to find out if the problem is in the monitor or at the PC sound card. Try feeding the monitor with sound sound source such as MP3 player to the audio line in of the monitor to see if you get the sound or not. If you do not, then you will need to open up the monitor and inspect the audio power amplifier circuits. If you get the sound OK, then verify that the cable between the PC audio line out (green jack) and the monitor audio input (green jack), next verify that the audio level controls (on screen volume control panel) are set up OK, not at minimum setting. Verify that correct driver for the sound card is installed.

How do i get the sound to work?

Sound has to be connected to the monitor. Plug the audio cable from the monitor into the green audio jack on the computer at the back. Make sure the sound is configured for stereo and not 7 channel surround. Turn up the volume on the monitor(if there is a control) and turn up the volume on the computer.

Need the sound drivers for the monitor

You do not need sound driver for the monitor, but you do need the sound card driver for your sound card. Your monitor has powered speakers built-in, you just need to connect the green mini stereo jack from sound card audio out to monitor audio line in and adjust the volume control at both monitor and the PC.

No sound

Is there a rca/headphone jack for the monitor? Make sure that the jack is plugged into the computer's audio out rca jack. A driver should not be needed for the audio on the monitor. If the jack is plugged in make sure that the audio is not muted on the computer. Right click on the speaker icon in the right bottom of the screen on the windows tray nand open the sound mixer. Make sure all the sounds are on. Then check the monitor settings and make sure the sound is on and not muted thru the monitor buttons. If the cable is good and all these things are ok then the internal sound amp in the monitor might be bad.

No audio

Hi

Pls check if the audio settings on the monitor are correct. Along with the monitor menu button, there will be another button for audio for some models. For other models the audio option will be available in the menu button itself.

Pls check with another set of powered speakers and not headphones.

Also check for the drivers and any driver updates for your sound card.

Hope this helps fix your problem.

Compaq wf 1907 monitor speakers--no sound

No sound from monitor speakers
If the built-in speakers on the monitor do not produce sound, perform each step that follows, testing for sound after each step, until you can hear sound:
  1. Close the software program you are using that is experiencing the sound problems. Test for audio using another software program.
If the volume is adequate using another software program, the issue is with the computer, not the monitor. If the volume is still low, continue with this procedure.
  2. Check the cable connection. If the monitor-to-computer connection is a VGA cable (usually blue on both ends), an additional audio cable is needed between the monitor and the computer. Check that the audio cable is connected properly.
  3. Try to adjust the volume higher using the monitor front-panel volume button.
  4. Using the buttons on the monitor, navigate through the onscreen display (OSD) menu to find audio or speaker settings and enable the speakers.
  5. Click Start c01292216.gif , Control Panel , and then click Sounds and Audio Devices .
  6. From the Volume tab, check the Device volume, and make sure it is not muted.
  7. From the Audio tab, in the Sound playback field, click the Volume button. Make sure the audio device is not muted and the volume outputs are at adequate levels.
  8. If the monitor-to-computer connection is an HDMI cable, an additional audio cable might be needed, depending on the setup and configuration of the system. To find out whether an additional audio cable is needed, go to
HP and Compaq Desktop PCs - Using HDMI Audio with a Desktop Computer

This document pertains to HP or Compaq PCs with an HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) connector.
HDMI sends both audio and video through the same connection. If you want to hear audio from an HDMI connection, HDMI audio must be set through Windows . For example, if a computer is connected via HDMI to a monitor or TV and the proper HDMI audio settings are made, both audio and video will be sent to the display device.
Use the following steps to activate HDMI audio on your computer:

NOTE: If you are setting up your computer for the first time, it may be easier to use a DVI connection or DVI-to-VGA adapter connection for the initial setup. Then, if you want to use an HDMI connection to connect a TV or monitor, activate sound for the HDMI connector using the steps that follow before connecting the HDMI cable to the TV or monitor.

NOTE: After recovering the computer using the Recovery Manager, repeat this procedure to activate sound for the HDMI connector.

Step 1: Enabling HDMI sound in the BIOS
To hear audio through the HDMI connector to a monitor or display, enable the Onboard Audio setting in the computer BIOS settings by completing the following steps.

NOTE: If you choose the default BIOS Setup options or upgrade the BIOS, you must repeat this procedure to enable audio for the HDMI connector.

  1. Turn off the computer.
  2. To enter the BIOS, turn on the computer and press the F10 key repeatedly until a BIOS Setup screen opens.
    A BIOS Setup screen opens.
  3. Press the right arrow key on the keyboard to select the Advanced tab.
  4. Press the down arrow key to select Onboard Audio , and then press the Enter key.
