Question about Dell Dimension 8400 PC Desktop
The blinking orange light means that there is a hardware failure. This could be anything from the power supply, the CD/DVD drive, RAM, hard drive or even the motherboard itself.
To begin troubleshooting this, first remove the power supply and use another one that is known to be working (if you have a second computer in the house, use its power supply).
Still have the orange light? Unplug all non essential components, one at a time to see which is causing the failure (CD/DVD drive, Hard drive). If there are multiple sticks of RAM, you can remove all but one, and begin testing these one at a time.
If all the above does not uncover the failed component, then the motherboard is most likely the issue.
