Hello, the hinge on my acer aspire 9300 laptop froze, causing the bracket that holds the lcd in place to break and the cover of the laptop. Where can I order these parts and the hinge(s). Thanks, Mary

Your best bet would be to contact Acer directly-
Hopefully your system is under warranty, since the damage was caused by equipment failure. The next best bet would be a Best Buy or other big box retailer's laptop repair depot service. The reason is that manufacturers do not use standardized components

How to replace screen on gateway kav60 netbook

1) ALL power removed from the laptop. AC adapter and Battery.

2) The plastic frame that surrounds the LCD screen in the Front is the Bezel.

There are screws which hold the Bezel in place. (Philips head)
There are rubber covers which cover the screw heads.

3) There are plastic covers which cover the Hinges.

The Hinge Covers must be removed first, then the Bezel.

The Gateway KAV60 Netbook PC is one of the Gateway LT series.

http://www.laptopmag.com/review/newgallery.aspx?id=37012&img=8#axzz17NS8djQA

I have no links to give you for this series of Gateway Netbook PC's.

However if you follow this pictorial guide, it will lead you in removing the Bezel, and replacing the LCD screen

http://www.insidemylaptop.com/replace-broken-lcd-screen-gateway-m-series-laptop/

As you can see scrolling down, and following the photos, and info, remove the Hinge Covers.
(I use a computer pick, perhaps you have a similar device handy)

Then the rubber screw covers are located around the front of the Bezel.
These are removed.

The Screw Covers have a type of contact cement on them. If you carefully remove the Screw Covers, you can reuse them.
Just ease up under one edge to start peeling them off.
If they are set down on a piece of paper, glue side up, the glue will stick again when you go to reinstall the Screw Cover.
(Yes, they do like to stick to the tool, and inevitably your fingertips)

Remove the screws with a Philips screwdriver.

The Bezel snaps into place. There are plastic protrusions (Tabs) that come out of the outside edge of the Bezel, and snap into place in the Display Cover.

Take your fingertips, and ease up on the Inside edge of the Bezel, towards the middle.
(The edge towards the middle of the LCD screen)

When you have the edge up a little, hold it up with the fingers of one hand, then with the other hand go towards the corner, about 2 inches from the corner, and ease the Bezel up.

This part of the Bezel should pop up. Then work along the Bezel with your fingers, and keep popping it up.
Use care as the Bezel can break, but if you are not in the middle pulling up hard, and towards the corner easing it up, it shouldn't break.

The Bezel is made of space-age plastic, and is Pretty Tough. You have to get stupid with it to break it.
When you are removing the Bezel for your first time, you may get a knot in your stomach, when the Bezel goes pop, pop, pop, as it's snapping loose from the Display Cover.
It almost sounds like you're breaking it.

Unplug the Inverter at the bottom of the LCD screen, from the motherboard cable, (Coming out of the main body of the laptop) by it's cable connector.
Unplug the other side of the Inverter that goes to the LCD screen.

Remove the Inverter, set it aside. Sometimes tape is used to fasten the Inverter, sometimes a screw, or screws.

Remove all screws for the metal brackets that hold the LCD screen assembly in place to the Display Cover.

{The LCD screen is an assembly. The LCD screen is composed of layers held together by a metal frame, that resembles a picture frame.

There is a Bracket on the Left side, and a Bracket on the Right side.
The brackets are screwed to the metal frame that surrounds the LCD layers.
The Brackets are also screwed to the Display Cover}

After the screws for the Brackets TO THE Display Cover are removed, unplug the cables at the top of the LCD screen that go to the webcam, IF the laptop has a webcam.

Ease the top of the LCD screen forward towards you.

Unfasten the tape that holds the Display Cable (Video cable) to the back of the LCD screen.
Use your fingernails, and unplug the Display Cable from the back of the LCD screen.

Unscrew the Brackets from the LCD screen.
NOTE*
Find THE screws that attach the Brackets to the LCD screen.

You may also be able to access the screws that hold the metal frame together, that surrounds the LCD screen layers.
You do not want these.

What isn't listed is if there is a Wireless Antenna. If so, there may be antenna leads coming out of the body of the laptop, and going to the LCD screen assembly.

The antenna leads have to be disconnected from the Wireless Card Module.
The laptop is turned over, and the Wireless Card compartment is accessed.
(It may be part of another compartment used by another device, also)

The cover is removed, and the two antenna leads are detached. Observe the colors of the wires. Black and White usually. Observe the connectors to which these wires attach, and make a note. Plug the wires back in the same way.

This is not your laptop, but I feel it may help explain the above,

Scroll the page down, observe Steps 8 and 11.

here is a Ebay listing for laptop hinges for the 9400 series
http://cgi.ebay.com/ACER-Aspire-9300-9400-9520-laptop-17-LCD-screen-hinges_W0QQitemZ120549686747QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item1c11523ddb

You will have to install them or find a person who is handy with disassembling laptops.
1. You will have to remove the cover of the LCD screen and then you will see the hinge support assembly.

Here is a site that may assist you with the taking apart and assembly

I would start watching e-bay for one. They're usually pretty reasonable, and without knowing exactly what part you're talking it's awfully hard to quote you a price.Good luck.-jmattes
