Question about Samson G-TRACK USB RECORDING MICROPHONE Microphone

2 Answers

Last week sunday, my Samson G-track usb recording microphone was working perfectly, connected to my sony vaio computer. But yesterday, when i plugged the mic to the computer, there was no response from the mic; no green light confirming that it had been connected. My computer instead said that the usb device is not recognized even after reconnecting numerous times. However, on a friend's Macintosh, the microphone seems fine. Awhile ago i deleted one or two programs from the computer, could this be the reason for this unexpected problem?

Probably you deleted a driver or something ..but the fact that it works in another computer it is a good thing ...It means that the device itself has no problems ..and the issue is something missing from your computer ..
If it is a Xp I suggest to make a system restore and go back to an earlier date when you know for sure that the MIc was working ..
to do that ..just go to system on the control panel ..and after that sytem restore..choose a highlighted date when you are sure it worked..and go for it ..It will change nothing but settings and bring back certain drivers..
if you do not manage from system in the panel ..go to start /all programs./..accessories./.system tools/ system restore..
anyway ..even if this will not work ..after you will reinstall the computer it will ...It may be a cause of other nature..like certain files deleted from system 32 of windows by the antivirus (or quarantined )..and the lack of them make the mic unknown device..
If you have a driver disk that came with it ..run it and will be ok ..if you do not have at least try on the support page and see if they have a driver ..
another issue may be the USB plug ..or the lack of usb 2.0 driver in the computer ..
I will try to see if it requires a driver ..but if it came without a disk it means that it must be seen by the pc and the issue is with the operation system at this moment ..

Those programs you deleted shouldn't make a difference, it's probably a driver issue.

Windows supplies it's own, so plug the mic in and check to see if you can find it in the device manager, if you do, uninstall it, reboot the computer, wait until everything boots up and then plug it in.

Let me know what happens.

Samson G-Track mic does not work with garageband effects

Look man just use the input as a way for your pre-amp's to plug in.... you don't want any of those built in guitar effects anyways... You just need a good multi pedal.. There are many good recording Pre-amps out there that work great and are fully adjustable for easy recording.. You can do what you want but, I think you will like the sound of pre-amp effects pedals in your computer set up....

Thats just a tip

Cannot record both mic and electric guitar in daw

Disagree with previous post. The GTrack is designed to record vocals and a mono insrtument at the same time. That's its main selling point. It should also allow monitoring of both the vocals and guitar alongside the playback from the computer. In your computer's Control Panel, go to sound preferences, select the usb microphone and click on advanced tab. It is likely yours is set up to record 1 channel at CD quality - this is how many ship for some reason. Set it to 2 Channels CD quality.
In Sonar, set your track input as USB Left for the vocals, and USB Right for your guitar.

No recording?

The static after several seconds seems like this is a problem with certain versions of OS X. You might be able to fix it by downgrading or upgrading. Apple Forums say that it's fixed in 10.5.6.

You can double check that this is the problem by trying it on a Windows computer.

yeah that is quite interesting on what you got there but chances are i really think its the operating system since this is a plug and play device, what instrument are you actually connecting to it? are you using any adapters or is it a direct cable USB attachment from the device to your computer?

Samson G-track - Vista requiring to install USB Audio Codec

If the LED doesn't light when you plug it in, and it doesn't show up in Device Manager ("USB Composite Device" or "USB Audio Device"), then the mic must be defective. Contact Samson for a replacement.
