Question about Philips DVDR3576H DVD Recorder

1 Answer

My unit 3576 H was working properly. I purchased it about 16 months ago. I was watching TV and not using the hard drive or DVD when the power went out, then shortly came back on. It was connected to a surge protector. The unit stopped working completely and seems to not be getting power at all. I am concerned that a power surge has made a paperweight of my recorder. My concern is that repair costs would be more than what it is currently worth. I am considering replacing it with a new player/recorder, the Magnavox MDR 513H/F7. Any comments would be appreciated.

Take the unit aparts, check the power fuse on the board, replaced the power fuse, that is near the a/c power cord.Replug it back like 48 hours later, the recoder should reset it self and work,if not ur right it a paperweight, not worth repairing.

Thanx for the info. However, I checked AVS Forum for this problem and found out if you do a reset: unplug the unit for a few minutes, plug it back in and hold down the power button at the same time that it will fix itself. So far it worked.

Magnavox MDR537H/F7 no power

Some surge protectors cut off all power, when they reach the surge protection limit in joules. Power strips have reset buttons to restore power. Try plugging it directly into the electrical wall socket. If it works, then purchase a new surge protector. The DVD recorder may have a internal fuse that has burned open.

If you only purchased it 3 months ago it should still be under warranty.

Just bring it back to your place of purchase for a refund or exchange.

RCA Model27F524T. Watching the screen, quick as

Sounds like your power supply. RCA was purchased by Thomson Electronics and their workmanship went with the sale. Good luck on getting it fixed. We had a $5000 RCA that sat for 6 months because we couldn't get a part. We traded it back to Circuit City for a Hatachi which we love.

500Gb SimpleTech Ext Drive No Power

Hello.
It sounds like you might have a problem with the power supply.
I have seen MANY external hard drives with failing power supplies. Take it to the store you purchased it from for a check up, it should still be under warrantee if its only 3 months old.
Good Luck!

These players don't play through channels like the old school VCRs or some early DVD players.
This is either connected through your HDMI or component video cable input on your HDTV.
You need to toggle through your inputs on your TV to the proper one where your BD Player is connected through.
If you have it connected to an analog TV, then you need to toggle through your TV inputs as well. Usually called Video 1, Video 2, Etc.
