I have an older 25cc craftsman weedwacker. It will start great and run well for about a half hour then it starts to run slower and slower until its barely running and finally just dies and wont restart. The carb has been cleaned.

Try leaving the chokey partially engaged. Operate it this way for a few minutes until the engine is thoroughly heated then move to the run position. If this does not work return it.
Clean you needle/ seat inside carb pull apart and clean all out and try it off the w.w. to see if primer works ,also the primer has a check valve internally also make sure that is working, if the primer won;t pull gas through carb it won;t run 2StrokeJim
My decisions are being driven by my experience with Poulan chainsaws. Small hose in tank (long enough to reach all corners), filter on bottom, connects to lowest connection on carburetor. Small hose on upper carburetor connection to small fitting on primer. Large hose from large connection on primer through largest tank hole, roughly mid tank long. nothing on bottom. I suggest you leave the 2 connections on the carburetor long enough they can be swapped (just in case) then try it. if no go swap them.
This is how I would configure it if a chainsaw, doubtful they would do something completely different. In defense of Jerry, he knows how it should be done, clarity of instruction could use some help. Good Luck. HTH Lou
You need to clean the carburetor. Remove and disassemble carb. Use a den Tek Brush, (used to clean between teeth), to clean the small portals in carb. Use a carb. cleaner while cleaning. Make sure the small screen in carb. is free of debris. The smallest of paticles can cause the carb. not to run right. Reassemble the carb. and try starting. If there is no change, then you will need to buy a carb. kit for your trimmer. Replace all appropriateparts: gaskets, diaphragm, needle valve, and the small screen.
