This is an ongoing issue for users, and rightfully so. Small diameter line out of fuel tank (has filter in-tank on end) connects to the side of the carburetor that has the fuel pump....that is the cover without the hole in it. Other larger diameter fuel line out of tank connects to the longer nipple on the external purge/primer bulb. The bulb "pulls" fresh fuel from the fuel tank to the carb and then out of the carb to itself, where it then pushes any air/old fuel back into the fuel tank. The remaining larger diameter fuel line in this setup goes from the metering chamber (has cover with writing on it possibly and a vent-hole) side of the carburetor to the smaller nipple on the purge/primer bulb. Years ago on 2-stroke trimmers, primers were not even used,...you choked the carb with a slide lever and gravity let fuel enter the carb from above...a few pulls, a "pop"...slide it off of choke and away you went.
If the purge/primer bulb is on top of the carb...small line from carb body opposite bulb end to small hole in tank with filter. This is the carb supply line. Larger diameter line goes from the bulb on the fuel pump side of the carb to the larger hole in the fuel tank where the line is held in place with a nylon nipple connector that keeps the line from pulling out of the tank. This is just the fuel return line.

Cranking but not starting until second try.gas smell.Gas line replaced.Had spark plugs, fuel filter changed.Still having starting issues and today noticed leakage near gas tank.

Gas line was only repaired, not replaced. I don't repair gas lines because of this problem. The entire line is replaced, both of them, supply and return. From the tank to the injector rail. This is the reason for the long start. Loose of fuel pressure.

Tip

Easy way to install fuel line and primer bulb return line into gas tank

Chainsaw fuel lines enter the gas tank from holes in top of tank. They are sized for a tight fit to prevent leakage. Make it easy on yourself when pushing the line through the tank by cutting a long lengthwise taper cut with razor knife 3 inches or longer to easily feed through that tight hole. Once started you will then have to grab it through the gas cap hole with needle nose pliers, then cut the tapered end flush and add fuel filter. Readjust inside length by pulling from above, then cut to length to upper carb fitting. If connecting to primer bulb a filter is not required and make sure the line goes to fitting on primer bulb marked tank.

What would be wrong with my weedeater when i press the primer bulb gas will start to come out of the gas cap ?

You could have a clogged tube from the primer into the carb, but it also sounds like the fuel tank is overfilled.

Sometimes when i least expected their is a small poddle of gas under my car where the gas filter goes

Since you didn't tell us your model, I will have to take a WAG and say that it is an in-line filter and that you don't have radiator clamps on the hose. The temperature differences this time of the year could cause fuel expantion. I would thoroughly inspect the gas line around the filter and look for splits or loose connections.

I have a model 61, it leaks gas, I think the gas line has a leak. How do I get at the line to replace it?

Who manufactures a model 61? Based on the info that was provided, we are not sure what device or item you need help with. Comment back with make, model and other critical info. We are assuming you can make these repairs and have tools to perform them when posting instructions to perform this repair or part replacement.

I have a 25cc gas trimmer. It leaks a little gas from the clear, flexible gas supply line(s). Is it possible (practical ?) to repair a leak in the gas line(s) ? Can the lines be replaced...

They get replaced all the time. The "new" gas with ethanol tends to deteriorate them more quickly nowadays. Small engine repair shop has the fuel lines you need. Repairing them is not done.
If you have the Craftsman trimmer, just ask for about a foot or two of each of the 2 different size lines. They are called "Tygon" fuel lines. Runs about a dollar/foot for the stuff.

I have a Homelite "Vac Attack" leaf blower model

The fuel line is replaceable by itself, you don't need a new tank. Just make sure you get the same size line or it will leak where it goes into the tank. Any local small engine repair shop should have the line. There are two lines that go into the tank, the pickup line has the filter on it. It not only filters the gas but keeps the end of the line down in the fuel.

I have a craftsman gas weekwacker model 356.791520 is there any diagram of the fuel lines. I think I repaired them wrong.

Looks like you've possibly referenced the wrong model # for your trimmer. There is a diagram available for model 358.791520, but not a 356.791520. You can find it here - http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/part-model/Craftsman-Parts/Grass-trimmer-weed-wacker-Parts/Model-358791520/0247/1503820?searchedModel=791520&blt=11.

Once you get the Sears numbers for parts you need, you can find replacements for them at HyperParts.com's cross-referencing page here.
