Yes, there is a way to do this. It's called an "inverter" and what it does is convert 12v/24v to 110v/220v - you can get them from most electrical retailers and increasingly from car parts retailers as well.

The little inverter box will provide you with one or two standard sockets, into which you can plug your notebook power supply normally.

BE CAREFUL about how long you use one without the engine running, though, as changing the voltage that far draws heavily on the vehicles battery.

I cant turn on my compaq presario f700

Check the fuse in the plug. If this is fine check for an output voltage from the AC adapter usually about 19.5 volts DC. If this is present it is like you have a damaged DC connector on Laptop motherboard.

Which ac do when a laptop compaq nc6400 is verr slow and doesnt charge the battery

What does the AC do? (Alternating Current)

Apparently not get rectified into DC electricity by the AC adapter, (Charger), or the rectified AC (Which is now DC), is not getting to the laptop.

Be sure the Battery is still good. They have a lifespan, and only last so long.

Verify, by performing a DC Voltage test with a multimeter, if the AC adapter is putting out the correct Voltage.

If it is an AC adapter for an HP Compaq NC6400 Notebook PC, the DC Voltage coming out of the AC adapter is supposed to be
18.5 Volts. (DC),

http://www.amazon.com/Notebook-Adapter-Presario-cq50-142us-cq50-110/dp/B001MQ4MNW

On the AC adapter plug going to the laptop, the center pin is the Positive connection.
The outer cylindrical metal shell is the Negative connection.

AC adapter puts out 18.5 Volts?
Have an assistant;

1) Gently wiggle the power cord coming TO the AC adapter.

2) Gently wiggle the cable coming FROM the AC adapter TO the laptop.

See if you get an intermittent reading on the multimeter. Indicates a broken wire.

[ An economical, but fine for this test, multimeter, can be purchased for as little as $8 to $12, here in the US.
Analog or digital is fine.
Available in a multitude of stores. An auto parts store is but one example ]

AC adapter checks out it's on to the DC Power Jack.
This jack is the round port on the laptop, that the plug from the AC adapter plugs into.

Battery removed use a wooden small object, and gently see if you can move the center pin around, for the DC Power Jack.

See if the rest of the DC Power Jack will move around.
ANY perceptible movement means a problem with the DC Power Jack.

The DC Power Jack looks like this not mounted to the motherboard,

http://www.batterystyle.com/compaq-nc6400-jack-p-436629.html

Click on the two views shown of the DC Power Jack.
The view on the left shows the jack from the back.
The view on the right shows the jack from the front. The view you see now.

Note that in both views the jack is shown upside down, in relation to how it actually sits on the motherboard.

The view on the left, (Back view), shows Prongs coming from the jack, that go down through the motherboard, and are then soldered.

The gold colored prong is the Positive prong. It goes to the Center Pin of the jack.
All of the silvery colored Prongs are for Ground, or Negative.

Where the Prongs are soldered to the motherboard, are called solder joints. Each prong has a solder joint.

It may just be that one, or more solder joints are cracked.
This would require disassembling the laptop down to the bare motherboard in your hand, then re -soldering any cracked solder joints.

[ Be SURE to use an ESD wrist strap, and have it's alligator clip connected to a good ground source, BEFORE working inside a laptop ]

It may be however that the DC Power Jack is damaged, and replacement is necessary.

Need guidance in de-soldering, and removing the old DC Power Jack, and soldering in a new one?
Post in a Comment.

If the DC Power Jack checks out, you have a bad power correcting chipset. This is a type of Power MOSFET.
Motherboard replacement is the solution.

Compaq 2510p battery not charging

Hi,

Im very sorry to hear that, please follow these simple steps for you to be able to isolate the exact problem.

1. Removed the battery.
2. Connect the laptop directly to the power outlet without using the battery just for the meantime.
3. Turn on the laptop. If the laptop is able to power on, that means that the AC adapter is working fine as well as the DC port. If the laptop is not able to turn on, it maybe the AC adapter itself or the DC port.
4. Try to use another AC adapter if possible, make sure that that AC adapter is working fine. If the laptop is still not turning on, the problem is with the DC port itself. In that case, you will need to replaced the Motherboard itself.

Hope this will help...Thank you for using Fixya...

Compaq Presario 2700US Notebook PC will not power up. Green power light is on

1. Take the battery out of the laptop & try to turn on the laptop using power adapter only. If the computer turns on, then the battery is defective & needs to be replaced.
2. Make sure the power adapter is not defective. Test the output voltage of the power adapter using a voltmeter. Compare the voltmeter reading to the nominal value written on the adapter or the laptop.
3. Make sure the DC jack is not loose or broken. A loose DC jack will need to be re-soldered. A broken one will need to be replaced.
4. If you have another processor which is compatible with your laptop's model, try swapping processors & test to see if the laptop will work.
5. The power button could be bad
.
6. The motherboard could be defective & needs to be replaced

Notebook won't power on

Take the battery off and try to turn it on with just the power cord. If it works then it's your battery. If it doesn't then it's either your ac adapter or your dc jack. Try an ac adapter from a local pc shop or electronics shop. AC adapters run around 40 dollars or less if you order them online. DC jacks are a different story. I the jack needs to be replaced you'll have to take it to a pc shop or if you can do it yourself then order a dc jack online or purchase it online and take the computer apart replace the dc jack (you'll have to desolder the old one and solder the new one one). Good luck!

My Compaq nx7300 computer does not charge and I know that it is not because of the adapter. The adapter works. Might the problem be only dc power adapter?

usually when it's not charging and the adapter is working what happens is that the charging circuit on your laptop might need to be checked or faulty or the power socket on your laptop might be faulty as well

Ive used a generic dc adapter and it was charging

Possibly. You should always use the correct DC adapter. Try switching the adapter and then the battery if that does not help.

Compaq Presario 1200 won't charge battery

dear N9YK

you can follow this

If you have a loose connection where you plug in the power on your laptop, or it works intermittently, you could have a bad dc jack. Symptoms
  • Move the power plug and the laptop loses connection
  • Broken or cracked dc jack
  • Laptop won't charge but worked on battery
  • Power LED and battery LED flicker when the adapter tip is moved
  • Battery won't charge
  • Sparks come out the back of the laptop
Why does this happen?
  • Flaw in manufacturer designs
  • Use of universal or non-original ac adapter
  • Lots of plugging and unplugging of the ac adapter
  • Tripping on or pulling the ac adapter cord
or you can check your dc amper in your adaptor

oke

thx
