Question about Sharp XL-ES50 CD Shelf System

Open Question

Sharp model "XL ES50" goes into "Protect" mode when trying to listen to "cds". In radio mode the system will play, in cd mode it will go into "Protect mode" after about three songs. I have pulled the cover off and can spin the fan by hand until it stays on. I have run 6" fan across the unit with the top off but the unit will still go into "Protect" mode. Help

SOURCE: CD player fails to read CDs

Hi Everyone !
We got the same problem two month ago and we fix it. The problem is drying lubricate oil from elector motor which spin the cd disk. You need to open top cover its 5 screw , 4 an sides and 1 on back. Then you see black cd changer in side. You need to open top cover of cd changer by unlock plastic clips and slide cover. Under cd holder you can fined elector motor that spin cd. You just need two drops of lubricate oil on top bearing at electromotor. My works fine right now .
Good luck.

SOURCE: HELP

You have a blown amplifier IC in the stereo that must be replaced, that is what causes the protect error on the display. It is a good idea to take it to a repair center and have them do it if you are willing to spend about $125 to $150, depending on the rates of the shop, to have it repaired. Otherwise, you will just need to get a new one. There is no other way to fix this problem without replacing the amp IC.

Sorry for the bad news, I wish I could have given you an easy fix, but there just isn't one for this problem.

Let me know if I can be any more help.

Dave

SOURCE: Sharp XL-HP505 Not playing CDs

Hi try this.....

Put the system in standby (ie off but plugged in) then whilst pressing down the record button and the X-BASS/DEMO button, press the PRESET DOWN (i.e.left hand one) button until "CLEAR ALL" appears, then power on your system.

This gave me some functionality back i.e. i can play normal wave CD's but not mp3 ones....

Hope this helps

Cd player say's protect and will not play cd

If protect is coming up on the display, it means the system is detecting a short somewhere on one of the speakers and so is turning the amp off to avoid damage.
Check all the connections at the back of the amp to ensure they are not shorting, and at the back of each speaker, if nothing is found there, check each wire for damage (like squashed or rodent damage).

Power protect

The protect mesage indicates a problem with the final stage of the output amplifier. The unit shuts down to prevent further damage. Please update this with the make and model and I should be able to point you to the problem part(s).
Thanks,
Dan

Sharp-XLES50 Help...

If the unit stays on at a low volume and cuts off when volume is raised, then fan motor maybe defective. If it cuts off no matter what volume level it's on then output IC maybe at fault.
