I have a Hampton Bay window air conditioner unit. It was leaking water from the front below the grill and now it has stopped working. I think the drain holes may be clogged. I cannot figure out how to...

Good chance the drain holes are clogged but that shouldn't cause it to stop working. I believe you need a service call or if the unit was inexpensive, scrap it and go for a new one. I repair them but most AC companies won't touch them. Sears might tackle it.

My ac is leaking inside the house underneath the front of the unit. I was told to clean it. I did that by cleaning the outside and pouring inside to clean out the inside now its leaking more.

The problem is one of two things or both.

The drain hole in the drip pan, near the rear of the unit is clogged and/or the rear of the unit does not have enough downward tilt. The general rule of thumb for rear downward tilt is 1/4" to 1/2". The downward tilt causes the water to flow to the rear of the drain pan and out thru the drain hole.
A clogged drain hole can be hard to find, sometimes. As the clog will blend in with the hole. Patience & persiistence are the key to located it. A piper cleaner works well to clear the clog, once the drain hole is located. Before attempting any service on the unit, turn it OFF & unplug it.

Hope I was able to help you troubleshoot & solve the problem. Thanks for choosing FixYa.

Water coming out of front of unit, thru vents leaking on floor

Darlene, if this is a window or thru the wall unit, the leaking is usually caused by two things:

1. The drain pan under the unit has a drain hole (in the rear outside part of the unit) that is clogged.
2. The AC unit is not tilted down at the rear 1/4" to 1/2", so that water will drain to the outside drain hole.

Be prudent when you look for the drain hole in the drain pan. As the clog can blend in with the drain hole, making it difficult to see.

Hope this helped you troubleshoot and solve the problem.

Fedders AC leaking water from front, older model was in storage. Cant find the manual to make sure it's installed proper, or see if we need to clean somehting out. It leaks when it's running, then...

The unit needs to be tilted down 1/4/" to 1/2" on the outside of the window. Also check the drain pan's drain hole, under the unit (outside the window) for clogs. Doing all of this should solve the problem.

How to stop a leak

the water leak is not a big concern -other than the mess it causes, but as to the AC's operational status it is supposed to draw water/humidity from the 'cooling space' so - it's still doing it's job (I'm assuming it's cooling too).

As to the water - I would check the drain to be sure it's not clogged up - which is usually the problem. If the drain is clear and the AC is draining (to the outside) properly - I would then check and make sure the AC is tilted backwards out the window.

good luck!

Water leaks out all over the floor from the window air conditioner

you need to make sure of two things.

1) the AC is 'tilted backwards' just a little bit - to allow the water (condensate water from the evap coil) to drip from the bottom of the AC - out the 'condensate drain hole' - sometimes into a drain hose (usually rubber) or just through the hole to somewhere outside where it doesn't hurt anything.

2) make sure the - condensate drain hole, and drain hose - (if one is used) is clear and not clogged up - to allow the condensate water to drain.

hope this helps

LG 18000 ac leaks water in the front of unit indoors.

Hi,

the drain pan is either clogged or the unit is not mounted properly. If the drain pan is clogged simply clean it and the problem goes away. In the case of the unit mounting, check the angle of the unit and the drain pan inside, if it tilted to the front even just a little then water would leak. the drain pan should lean toward the drain and away from the front.

I hope this helps.
