Random screen format adjustment!

For some reason the screen format on our tv keeps changing randomly while you're watching tv or a dvd. It doesn't matter if you set it to "smart" or one of the other settings, it has a mind of it's own and will just start to change and flicks about.
Any idea's what could be causing it?

I have a panasonic 42", the volume and channel was change on it's own. I needed a new DT board. It's the board with all the rca inputs. Cost for the part was $250 and labor was $300 with a $30 dollar charge for finding the problem. I ended up paying the $30 dollars and found the part online for $120. About fifty screws later the tv was like new! Hope this helps.

Why does Hitachi TV randomly change source codes after switching off?

Do a hard reset to this set, and then check. There are two methods to reset TVs. The first is simple to do; a Hard Reset. The other is somewhat skilled; is a Factory Reset (System Reset). To make it a hard reset, just unplug the TV from AC mains wall socket, and re-plug it back after 15 minutes or so. If you do this by overnight is better. This procedure will make it a hard reset. If you want to make it a system reset [Factory Reset]; you have to enter its service mode option, and select the factory reset option. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Service mode entry, adjust and exit procedure to many popular brand TVs are given. Never forget to exit the service mode, after all adjustments have been done

Pink screen on sumsung LCD

Likely to be a bad main board that processes all signal and controls the display panel for tuner and all inputs---other possible boards not likely as they do not know when a DVD etc is being played or not.

Not out of the realm of being possible is a bad connection or loose plug to or from the main board---especially look for any that are secured or held down with tape where they plug into that board.

Tv turns it`s self off and on at random. It also changes from regular cable to dvd at random. If you turn it off when it is on cable, and then you turn it on, it will stay on cable for about 5 min, then...

this fault realy seems like possible dry solder joints in the power supply or high voltage area of the unit, the transients caused during a bad connection can easily change av channels etc, also check all scarts are fitted correctly at the rear as there is a 12 volt line on each scart input which if suffering from a loose scart plug or dodgy cable can switch tv functions.

I have at 42in Plasma Samsung HPS4253. One day randomly my TV had red pixels all over the place. Anytime the screen goes ''black'' it is now red. When watching TV or movies any shadows or black sections on...

If the picture has red 'staining' all over the picture which is static then the fault is the Xsus pcb. If the picture has random 'sparklies' that change then it may be a case that either the ppower supply Vs voltage has deviated from its set voltage which can be adjusted by a potenitometer on the psu pcb...or if the psu voltages are correct (when compared to the screen label factory voltages) then by tweaking the Ysus trimmers, The fault could be a deviated tolerance on the Ysus.

Vizio 42" LCD - Random appearance of small black rectangles

There is a processing fault that is starting to occure. What you are seeing is a type of aliasing. This can be in the main signal processing or in one of the control areas.

The set will require service. The service rep will test the set by using board substitution. There are typicaly a number of areas in the TV set that can cause this type of fault. Once the defective board is located the fault will be easy to service with a simple board swap and some adjustments.

If the set is out of warranty, it may be expensive to service. With many of the no-name brands, spare parts can be difficult or impossible to have.

Magnavox 42 inch LCD TV

I was having the same problem. On my tv it was caused by a loose or faulty interface chip. I solved this on my television by opening the case and unplugging the circuit board at the top center where the menu and channel buttons are located. I've been running the tv for about a week and have had no more problems.
