Question about HP w1907 LCD Monitor

1 Answer

Hi, I turned on my monitor today an Hp w1907 screen. It works as usual and I surf the net. I then turn off my internet browser (Firefox) to play a FPS (First person shooter). I go into the game (still in windowed mode) I press join and it goes into full screen mode, as expected. I am then greeted with a the monitor shutting off. I turn it off and on. It turns on for a bout 2-3 seconds and dims very low. and i try to do something on the screen with the low light, but nothing can be done. I leave the monitor off to give it resting time. I come back and it works again. So I do the same thing again. I search the internet for the problem. But I than gave up because it didn't happen again. I ran crossfire and went into full screen mode/ game mode. Then the problem reoccurred. I turned off my computer and came back along with the monitor. I turned it on with the computer and a fresh start. But it did not stay on. I disconnected all cables and reconnected. But nothing seems to be working. I am on my laptop now and my warranty had just ran out.

Joshuaiscatc, The very first thing you will want to do will be to try using the monitor with a pc that has some version of windows running (xp) and try running and displaying a large spreadsheet for about 1 hour. If monitor dosen't do any stupid stuff like turn-off or go dim, then you might want to investigate Firefox software OS and the video card. You may need a "faster" monitor than your 1907. Please investigate this BEFORE disassembling 1907!! Sometimes "very fast" gaming programs will cause the video graphics card to send an overload of data to the vga to lcd interface card inside the monitor, and then it gets very confused and will shut off or dim the screen. Try to prove that the 1907 will only "go stupid" when doing high-speed gaming!!! Report back your findings. 12fixlouie

Sure thing, I will try today :D but if it keeps acting stupid then I will report back sadly D:

My Hewitt Packard flat screen monitor keeps shutting off, it will come back on then shut off again. The green light stays on.

my HP w1907 flat screen keeps shutting off after playing a game, but does it frequently when changing browsers also. The blue lite stays on, if I click and return it back on blue the monitor opens for one second.
Also I can't return the screen resolution back to its original setting, which is 1440x900 because any browser home page has a 4"white space on both sides of the monitor. I can't hit my auto selectbutton because that causes the problem. I spent $60.00 for tech support but no help on fixing the problem. One tech directed to buy hardware helper, that was about$30.00! I just keeps directing me to my original chipset setting which I told the tech that's where my problem started! My daily important update keeps popping up with it,so where's the HP support when you paid for it? Problem still not resolved. Hp w1907 monitor stays on for a second when turn computer and then screen goes black; have turned on and off; reconected cables and turn on and off. Power light is blue and then turns orange.

It acts like it is not getting signal from the video card or it goes into shutdown mode to protect itself.
Try it on another PC first, if it still does not work then you will need to open iy up.
Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply, blown fuses, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed HP monitors to get some ideas what to look for: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.

HP w1907 LCD Monitor blacks out after 1 minute

Hi,

Check your monitor cable, try to reseat it (VGA / DVi port) at the back of the computer. If it still does turn off try to reseat the graphics card (if you have an expansion card) If reseating wont fix it, try this monitor to another computer and see if it still turns off. if not, then it is a problem on the video card of your computer, if yes it means your monitor is faulty.

Hope this helps.

I have an hp w1907 monitor i start up puter and after about 15 miniuts the monitor goes black i turn the monitor off and about 5 minutes later i turn it back on and works fine for about another 15 minutes

You could have a faulty inverter board. The inverter supplies high voltage to the CCFL lamp/s, these lamps are mini fluro tubes approx 1,5mm dia. and the length of the screen.
Check the inverter output/inverter board and you maybe able to get parts from

My HP w1907 monitor blacks out after turning it on. It only stays on for one second. What is wrong?

I've seen something similar in some Iiyama screens recently in the office, it was caused by failing capacitors in the power supply. I managed to replace these with a bit of soldering iron work and the help of this site http://www.badcaps.net/

Be careful if you do choose to take a look inside your screen though, there are some nasty voltages in there.

My HP w1907 monitor less than a year old is turning pink!

A flickering screen with pink colour is a sign of a CCFL lamp problem.
The CCFL lamp is a mini fluro tube and it provides the back-lighting, it is definitely faulty and about to fail completely.
You need to get it repaired while it is still under warranty.
