Question about Aqua Pool & Spa

1 Answer

My circulation pump on my Master Spas Legend spa wont run and all it does is trip the GFCI. I traced the problem down to awire going into the circuit board and when I unplugged it, it quit tripping the GFCI but now my circ pump wont work. Is the circuit board bad or is something wired wrong? I checked the diagram to the circuit board with the one on the panel and everything seems to be in the correct location. HELP!!

Since you mentioned the pump was not working but tripping and disconnect the pump and have it tested out of circuit. Now we are confirmed of the pump.,Next you have to trace the wires that was disconnected from the circuit,You have to confirm from where the wire leads to the circuit. Since when the wire is disconnected the circuit disables the pump, this is important information.
But at the same time assuming this being a sensor switch as the circuit is diabled the breaker does not trip. So the possibility of the motor drive( or section) having an error or short within seems high.
Check the motor drive to confirm assuming motor was working in our test.
Please take care when checking power circuits and use a multimeter for tracing and checking voltages( ac) in the correct range..

Why does the spa trip the gfci when I turn the jets on high?

You need to make sure that it is a real GFCI and not a spark detection fault interrupter. When the pump is turned all the way up it may be causing a large spark that the SGCFI is detecting. If it is not that then there is a parasitic floating fault that is causing the issue.

Hot tub breaker trips but only when people are in it?

Because it is a GFCI. Try making sure that the grounds are all good. Maybe go the extra step of putting in grounding rods into the ground and grounding to the unit. These are just guesses.

Why is the gfci tripping on my hot tub after being on for 30 min. After resetting the breaker after the 30 min. run, it trips immediately!!!

Hi,
You will want to make sure that all of your spa equipment is functioning properly. It is best for a spa technician or electrician to determine this issue.
It is likely that a particular piece of equipment is turning on around the 30 min time frame and causing the breaker to trip. Pump, ozonator or similar. Also check the heater element, a pin sized hole in the element will cause it to fail. Lastly your spas breaker itself could be bad.
Good luck!

Laing circulation pump for Saratoga spa. Put in new pump but now tripping GFCI.

Check your wiring! If it wasn't tripping before and now it is, you have your hot and neutral crossed or neutral and safety ground crossed. You can not draw current via the safety ground, that is what caused the GFCI to trip, it senses current being drawn in that wire.

I have a fantasy dreammaker spa that plugs into a regular 120v outlet. At times the spa will run properly for weeks. Then it will constantly trip the switch on the spas plug. When I reset and test it works...

This is a GFCI and will trip at the least bit of water at the plug or at the wiring inside the spa controls. Just go through the system and make sure all is dry. Use a hair dryer in the outlet and on the controls and wiring. If you still have problems you may need to call an electrician.

Do you have to run a seperate circuit for a jucuzzi inline heater?

FOR MOST OF YOUR SPAS YOU SHOULD HAVE A OUTSIDE EMERGENCY SHUTOFF BOX NO CLOSER THEN 5 FEET FROM THE WATER LINE(YOU SHOULD NOT BE ABLE TO SIT IN THE SPA AN BE ABLE TO REACH OUT AN TOUCH THE EMERGENCY SHUTOFF) AN NO MORE THEN 100 FT AWAY FROM THE SPA. IT ALSO DEPENDS ON WHAT BRAND AN WHAT VOLTAGE YOU WILL BE SETTING IT UP AT MOST OF YOUR SPAS TODAY R CONVRTBLE FRM 110 TO 240V. MOST 110 ARE EASY SHOULD JUST BE A GFCI PROTECTED PLUG THAT YOU WOULD HAVE TO PLUG IN(ALWAYS SMART IF ITS A PLUG IN, YOU RUN A SEPERATE BREAKER AN LINE OUT TO A ALL WHEATHER RECPT. TO PLUG THE SPA INTO) THE PLUG COMING FROM THE SPA SHOULD BE A GFCI PROTECTED PLUG LIKE YOU WOULD SEE ON MOST HAIR DRYERS. 240V ALSO DEPENDING ON WHAT TYPE A SPA U NEED THAT EMERGENCY GFCI PROTECTED BOX OUTSIDE(MOST GOOD DEALERS WILL OFFER YOU THIS BOX WHEN YOU BUY THE SPA) BEACUSE ALL BRANDS WILL BE HARDWIRED IN A DIFFERENT WAY SOME REQUIRE A DOUBLE POLE GFCI 30AMP BREAKER FOR JUST THE HEATER AN A SINGAL POLE GFCI 20AMP FOR THE PUMPS ALWAYS WANT THE GFCI OUT AT THE SPAS OUTSIDE SHUTOFF BOX INSTEAD OF IN THE MAIN BREAKER BOX BUT LIKE ALWAYS REFER TO THE MANUEL AN HIRE A ELECTRICIAN WHO HAS DONE SPAS B/4.
