Thanks for the reply. dj said it was a graphics card issue, I think your answer is consistent with what I read online. But where do I buy a blue tube and how do I learn how to install?? Thanks much!

The issue is with the blue tube ...and this is just the first sign ...soon the TV will flash blue now and then ..and after that will turn black and will shut down the TV with a pop sound...This will indicate that the tube is already in short and the tension will increase and cause emergency shutting down ..
To change the blue tube ..I guess the part is around $200 but the hand work will cost you something extra ..depends on the shop....but the fault is for sure from the blue tube and will only get worse..

    http://cgi.ebay.com/Sony-KP-65WV600-Blue...
Here I found a used on ..at about 100$ ..the idea is to pay via paypal and you are kinda protected ..cause they have a money return policy ...in special cases like never receiving the part or ..receiving a non functional one..
You can also write an email on the sony support site ..and ask them about the part ..
About doing the changing yourself...to be honest I would not do it myself if it was for me ..cause it is kinda dangerous..and sensitive job ..and has many things that only a trained hand ca do it ...

Hi! You do have a faulty graphic card. This issues occur when the graphic card is about to reach it's break point. Have it replaced and you'll be good. Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa!

You can buy it on any computer parts store and you will just have to open the computer casing and detach the graphic card.

KP-65WV600 Red and Green Lamps fade out after about 15 seconds

Hi, if the tubes fade from full brilliance to black over a few seconds, the possible sounds like dry joints in the CRT heater circuits. possibly caused by dry joints (bad solder joints). Most repairs involving rear projection TV's can be a pig (mainly relating to access to work on the circuit boards)

The screen turns blue after about 2 minutes of turning on the TV

Sony TVs has an Optical Block issue. If there is an issue with the optical block, then there will be green, blue patches or tint on the TV display. Try resetting the TV to the factory settings and try Power resetting the TV. Turn Off the TV and remove the power plug from the wall outlet for 1 minute and reconnect it and check the operation. If the issue still persists, then TV may require service. You can contact the Customer relations team and check for the available options. Sony had repaired free of cost for such issues. Hence, contact the customer relations.

My Sony KP-65WV600 65 in. Rear Projection Tv after turning on for a while the picture will turn cloudy blue. How do i fix this problem?

It is not unusual for the CRTs to cause this problem. In this case the Blue CRT. The problem is that you cannot get them anymore. You must send the CRT assembly to Sony for them to rebuild it. Due to the age of the set and the cost of this process, I do not recommend repairing if it is the Blue CRT causing the problem. The only way to be sure is to have a professional check it out.
I hope this helps,

Picture comes on then fades to blue

Check the info from this website to see if you are able to fix your TV. You should turn the blue screen control down slightly counterclockwise. If that did not work, then more likely you have a video amplifier IC defective or a blue CRT.

Cloudy Blue Color Covering Whole Screen

I think its time for sony to face a claas action, they do not supply parts in less than 7 years, and the unit should not have been sold so $high, they should buy them back, that is the best solution

Blue screen

This is easy to fix, pull off the front grill and turn the bottom left trim pot anti clockwise until the picture comes back. I am asuming the picture there and then it fades to blue. There is a step by step instruction on how to get the whole thing apart http://www.somelifeblog.com/2007/06/sony-projection-tv-red-line-repair.html

Sony KP-51HW40 51 in. Rear Projection turns blue

Hello......
First reduse the G2 voltage for the blue c.r.t,and watch if the unit works for longer period (offcource blue colour will be not present). After reducing G2 voltage to blue c.r.t still behaves the same than c.r.t is faulty and you have to replace.
Pls count the red led blinking when it goes off, incase it goes to std by mode.
