My string trimmer ppb250E will not start and is leaking fuel. How do I remove the plastic shroud to get to the carburator?

I found 2 screws on the bottom of the shroud, but thats all that I can see. Also the pull starter cord goes through the shroud.

On the back of the unit where the pump bulb is located there are 2 screws that attach the carburator to the motor. I was able to remove them and check the hose connections. I sprayed some gumout into the choke and it started right up.

The cover is held in place with probably 4 screws of the Torx head variety. Once you get that off, you will be able to access the carburetor. If the fuel leak is at the carb, you will need a gasket and diaghragm kit. If the hoses in the fuel tank are leaking, you will need new fuel lines. IF the fuel tank itself is leaking, you can seal it with a product called "Seal-All" that is quite resistant to oil and gasoline.

Troybuilt tb80ec wont start

If you didn't over winter the engine properly it could be several things. Start with replacing the fuel filter. If it still won't start... time to put in a carburator kit. Next time make sure you run your weed eater dry and spray some wd-40 or the like into the spark plug hole.

Trimmer starts up when the air intake on the carburator is closed, once you put the air intake to the second position (which is introducing additional air into the carb, the trimmer stalls.

Its running far too lean, start by replacing the fuel filter on the end of the fuel hose, check the fuel lines foe signs of leaking, if no better, remove the carb, under the alloy pump, cover held with a single screw you will find an internall fuel screen, make sure this is clear.

Trimmer dies when i switch to run

Your trimmer carburator is a bit gummed up. Get a bottle of carburator cleaner fuel additive and add it to the fuel in the tank and in the gas can. Be sure to follow the instructions so you get the correct amount of cleaner + gas. In just a few minutes you will notice a huge improvement.

My weed eater wont start.

One of the problem could be is you have one of the line in this case top line in the carburator clog. For clean the carburator You need to remove first the cover for the filter 2 screws on front of the carburator remove lines mark the lines top and bottom remove slowly the carburator be careful with the gasket. The carburator have 4 little screws removed and remove the black gasket (diaphragm) clean with carburator cleaner and air, blow air thru the top line tube, now on the otherside remove the screw and clean the gasket and the carburator inside do the same step. Make sure you clean the fuel filter inside the tank with carburator cleaner.

First, Im not sure where my air filter is on my troy built. Also, I my starter cord pulled out and wont wind back up. I got down to the clutch and cant figure out how to get the clutch off. What can I do?

airfilter is a square filter over the carburator if the cord is out its not the clutch its in the shroud the recoil sping is broken or needes to be redone what you can do is remove the string from inside shroud turn the coil like you pulling the rope when the spring is tight you can use a c-clamp hold it place reinsert rope & release c-clamp it should rewind

Ryobi gas trimmer

I don't mean to over simplify this, but are you using fresh gas? Gas string trimmers are extremely ticky when it comes to gas. They like it SUPER fresh. And while the gas and oil mixture should be right, it can be off a little bit and still run. Try draining all of the gas out, and then filling up with fresh mix. This is ALWAYS my first step with string trimmers, and it fixes the problem 75% of the time.
Hope this helps!!
