Chances are you had a grease splatter onto the cover and it caught on fire resulting in a hole. The part is called a wave guide cover (#5526 on Diagram) and you can get a replacement part at http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/part-model/JES1384SF?sid=MMLxMerchandizexManualsModelxJES1384SF%20GExJES1384SF

Sparks inside a wolf mw24 inside in right wall cover plate

The right side wall cover plate is the "waveguide cover."

It protects the waveguide and the magnetron at the other end from moisture, grease, and food particles.

If these remain stuck to the waveguide cover, arcing can occur, which will damage and / or destroy the cover, the waveguide or even the magnetron or the oven chassis.

As with most problems, this should be addressed sooner rather than later or it will only get worse, and may become unrepairable.

The similar Sharp model R-530E-series service manuals are here and here. They will help with disassembly, but the external / cosmetic parts will not interchange.

The Wolf waveguide number is 801798 and Wolf part ordering information is here.

The oven cavity and waveguide must be clean and if any spot is scorched or chipped, it must be sanded smooth, cleaned and dried, then touched up with appliance paint, available from local big box stores, home centers, appliance parts stores, and hardware stores.

Leave the door open overnight to dry the paint. Then install the new waveguide cover.

If the chassis or waveguide have holes in them, the oven must be scrapped and replaced.

Please include FULL model number*, FCC ID number*, + detailed symptom information. ( * on the tag in cooking cavity or around door frame or control frame or on back)

Homestyles 0.9 cu.ft. Microwave Oven's shielding plate

yes you can but you should not. Take the shielding wall from another similar microwave if possible, the magnetron waves can seep thru the smallest crevasses and will repeatedly cause more damage if not fitted properly, im not so sure what type material is used but more than likely it is non conductive, careful magnetrons are dangerous thats why companies that make microwaves have such strict guidelines and safety measures, there are so many switches to prevent direct exposure to the magnetron, it is so dangerous the goverment developed a weapon from the technology--if your insist on repair please find exact replacement parts- careful and good luck more questions just ask

Kenmore microwave 80082 sparking from an inside panel

If your positive it is not arcing behind the waveguide cover I would think it has to be in the control area. You will have to turn off power to the unit and remove the control panel and look to see if you can find any burn marks or soot, to indicate where your problem may be. I have found burnt connectors at the relays or even possibly burnt wires to the door switches. Careful! the capacitor on these can hold a charge for a long time and can shock you pretty good. Only work on something like this with the power to it off and the capacitor discharged. Microwaves do not come through the little round holes those are typically an RF screen to prevent microwaves from getting through. A lot of times that is where the cavity lamp shines through.

I get an occasional spark when microwave is in use

Presuming that you have iliminated the possibility of any metal objects that are not meant to be in the machine being in there (and this includes dishes and other items with silver or gold leaf on them, which WILL spark and burn!) then take a look inside the oven its self. You will find a waveguide cover. It is usually a strange flakey silvery plastic/card like material called Mica and is usually on the same side of the microwave wall as the control panel (So if the picture on this thread is accurate, I will guess the Mica cover is on the right hand wall inside as you look at the machine from the front) . Over time, the magnatron (the thing that creates the microwave energy) will often burn a hole through the mika, or cause a dark brown or black burn mark in it. If this cover is even slightly damaged then it may well cause sparking inside the machine. These covers are designed to be removed and you can buy replacements for them from electrical stores.

How do i take microwave off wall i took 2 bolts off in cupboard above microwave and microwave did not budge at akk.

There should be two or three bolts inside of the cabinet above the microwave. Remove all bolts and then pull top edge of microwave forward (away from wall). It pivots on a mounting plate which is secured on the wall. Pivot forward and lift microwave up a little bit off of the ledge of the rear mounting plate.

Make sure to feed the electric wire (plug) through the hole in the cabinet as you pivot and remove the microwave. Sometimes cooking grease will make the microwave stick to the cabinet. So after removing the bolts use gentle force when pulling on the microwave.fce1346.jpg
I hope this helps and good Luck!

The Magnetron has failed, causing the waveguide to become damaged. If the waveguide is damaged/burned the microwave can not be repaired and should be replaced.

Emerson MW8102SS - Sparks and No Heat

The magnetron tube which makes the microwaves is behind that cover plate, and it has gone bad. It is a replaceable part, but it's not worth the cost. Part and labor would be more than a new oven. It's time to treat yourself to a new oven.
