Problem for Kenmore 23513 Progressive Bagged Canister Vacuum
Brush won't turn
The brush of our Kenmore just stopped turning. To the untrained eye, it seems as if it is "off" (one side of the brush not completely where it should be). Vaccum repair shop will charge us $130 to repair. Could we do this ourselves?

- I have a similar problem with my Kenmore 116.52650300C vacuum. The brush turns intermitently. Sounds like a be off or streched. I tried to get into the head and have succeed in getting the rubber bumper off and cannot get the head to come apart. There are some plastic snaps but I can't seem to get them all to release at the same time. Any suggestions.- kwinschoSolution #1

Remove the drive belt and check the rod coming out the motor for operation when the unit is in the on position. If the motor is turning the motor is not at fault but good. Turn off unit! Next, try to turn the brush by hand. If it is hard to turn check both sides
(the ends) for hair build up. It could possibly be loaded with hair or some other type of string like material that has accumulated over the years and is restricting the movement of the brush. Also check the bearings on the ends too.
