Whoooaaaa there cheif, do you have a voltmeter ? You want to be WAAAAY careful hooking up different wiring harnesses in your car, you could do serious damage in the blink of an eye. There are some standard requirements for all car stereo devices, Power,Ground, memory( like your clock in your car, a small power draw). You might be able to obtain a conversion harness(wal-mart,auto parts stores). If you could verify with a voltmeter, Red should <(or could be 12V+), black or brown could be ground. Orange or God knows what color it might be, will be your control wire. The memory type of connection that is on all the time, the main power only comes on when the key is on. Ground needs to be chassis ground, a clean metal surface for an important connection. Did your stereo come with a wiring diagram, schematic diagram? Scan it , and post it, or take a picture of the diagram(jpeg), and I could tell you more. I hesitate to advise without further information.

No the stereo didn't come with a schematic or wiring diagram or nothing . These are the wires that are coming out a fat BLUE/RED wire which i believe should be 12VDC coming from the battery , a fat BROWN wire which i believe is chasis GRND, a thin BLUE/WHITE wire which i believe may be my ignition wire, a GREEN/BROWN wire which i absolutely have no clue about, and a YELLOW/BLACK wire which i am clueless about also. I have used a multimeter checking for DC voltages using the big fat BROWN wire as GRND and i get small voltages at all the other wires all in milivolts but when i check the cigarette lighter i get the same voltage coming from the battery which is usually between12-14VDC even when i plug back inthe stock radio there is no power there since it won't power on at all so i was just wondering did i blow something or is it just the antitheft system that causes this to happen.

SOURCE: WIRING FOR PIONEER DEH 16 CAR STEREO

you need to find the Pioneer website, or something similer... google the DEH 1600 diagram. really you just need something that tells what the different wires represent by color. then find a wiring diagram for the make and model of your ride that cooresponds to your stereo set up... then just match up the wires and there you go... personally i suggest haveing one of the boys at Best buy throw a harness... it costs like 15 bucks or something. plus you know it will be done right, and you can take it back if its not and have it fixed... bottom line they will be liable for any problems... hope this helps.

How to remove a deh 21001b from a vt commodore

He may have to get underneath the dashboard and see if their is a security strap or wire harness holding the radio into the mounting sleeve. It's common for installers to strap down the stereo to prevent thefts and other installer from easily taking the radio out. Have him keep trying.

Your best bet is to go to a good stereo store that can get you a wiring harness adapter that will plug into your car and be color coded to wire up to your aftermarket radio.

It will save you a lot of time and trouble.

After reconnecting the car battery, the radio would not turn on

The pioneer has a small protection fuse in the back of the radio, alot of time when it catches a power spike, it will blow to protect the head unit. It should be plugged in the back of the radio under the main plug. Hope this helps.

Power to pioneer deh-2000mp will not turn on

MOST OF THE TIME THE CONSTANT CAN NOT BE HOOKED UP TO THE SAME WIRE AS THE POWER WIRE, U SHOULD HAVE A WIRE IN UR HARNESS THAT IS YELLOW USE THAT WIRE, IF U DONT FIND A FUSE INSIDE UR CAB USE THE FUSE AS A CONSTANT POWER LEAD BUT PUT IT ON ONE THAT CUTS ON WITH THE KEY.

New Radio too powerful for 15 Watt speakers?

Hello mike_mccuske,

The OEM speakers will still work OK with your new Pioneer. Just don't turn it up too loud. Of course you'll get improved sound if you replace the speakers. Your Pioneer's RMS power is 14 watts, and the peak (maximum) power is 50 watts. The door speakers in a 2000 Honda Civic are 6.5" and you can get a set of Pioneer speakers, the TS-G1642R's, from Crutchfield for less than $50. Their RMS power range is 2-30 watts and they can handle a peak power of up to 180 watts.

Hope this helps.
