To connectyour computer to a wireless router, you click the Refresh networklist, then Choose your wireless network and then click Connectto your secured Wireless Network, it will asks for a Network Keybefore allowing you to connect into your wireless network. This NetworkKey is either the WEP, or WPA or WPA2 Encryption key that is used toconfigure the Wireless Router. The Passphrase is an alternate way tosetup the Encryption key. When you are requested for a Network Key, you can just enter the Passphrasethat was used to configure the Encryption key in the wireless router.http://www.fixya.com/support/r5270415-network_password_network_addressFor information on securing your wireless network, configuring the wireless router and configuring the wireless card in thelaptop/computer, please click on this link and follow my instructions :-http://www.fixya.com/support/r3559128-wireless_router_security
Access the router's setup page using a computer that is wired or physically connected to the router.
To access router's setup page, launch IE and on the address field type 192.168.1.1 (which is the default IP address of Linksys routers). Then, it will ask for a username and password. By default, there is no username. The password is admin.
Once you're in the Linksys setup, go to WIRELESS tab. There is a subtab called Wireless Security.
Click on wireless security tab and you will find there the security key or wep key that is enabled in your router.
You should also setup the router for wireless security as well. Therefore your the only one with the password to use your wireless connection. So no one near your place can steal and use your wireless Internet connection.
Plug another Ethernet cable into one of the available ports
Plug the other end of that same cable into an Ethernet port on your PC
LinkSys Router Configuration
LinkSys routers now ship with a Setup Wizard which is intended to simplfy basic configuration tasks.
We do not recommend the LinkSys Setup Wizard for two reasons:
The Setup Wizard is not significantly easier that the regular configuration menus
If you use the Setup Wizard, you will end up learning two interfaces for your LikSys router instead of just one
Instead, we recommend simply starting your web browser and jumping into the configuration.
Once your web browser is open, go to the URL http://192.168.1.1/. This will take you to a popup box which asks you to enter a username and password. Logging in to a LinkSys Router
The username is either blank or "admin" and the default password is "admin".
Once you are past the login screen, you are able to access (and change) a plethora of configuration options for your router.
Don't be worried by the enormous number and variety of options, your LinkSys router ships with default settings that enable it to work right out of the box in most environments.
From here the configuration options that you choose are largely up to your own personal preference.
If this is a wireless router, we recommend that you consider setting an SSID to identify the router as your own and configuring WEP to encrypt your wireless traffic.

Learn how to set up your Linksys Router.
Thomas installs a Linksys router to demonstrate what ease-of-use means.
U don't need a password. U need to set U'r router to a secure mode, not open ended. use WEP or other (64 bit or 128 bit) encryption. linksys allows U to select a paraphrase, example: "Love2Air" and it will generate a code, i.e. "7D23C678867". This will allow others to see that there is a wireless system, but they have to have the code to use it. U will have to have the code in your other wireless pc's in order to use the system. U can also tell the router what MAC address' (pc address') to allow or disallow to use the system.
A password is used to keep others out of U'r routers setup and changing U'r code or paraphrase. If U'r system gets highjacked, there is a reset on the router and everything will revert to the book defaults. Don't loose the book.
If this is a first install of a brand new Linksys router:
Just plug your cable modem to the back of your linksys router's internet port, then plug a computer to Port 1 on your router, type http://192.168.1.1 in your internet browser on the computer connected to Port 1, you will access the setup page of your linksys router (leave the user name field blank and type admin as password)
Now you can go to http://www.cas411.com/ShowArticle.aspx?ID=68 to setup your wireless securely, you do not want to just leave it at its default settings, as anybody could then use your internet access or worst, check what you are doing on your computer.

Hi Ed, if your using windows you can open network connections & run network setup wizard. Follow the instruction for a home network for the wireless PC's & notebooks. Once the network is setup for all PC's than you can install the printer cd software in the PC's that you want to access the printer. Each PC & notebook will have access to the printer through the network.
The PC that that is connected to the printer needs to be shared.
Open printers and Faxes. Right click once on the printer & left click sharing. Agai follow the instructions.
Lastly,I strongly suggest you setup security for your wireless. If you do not anyone close can tap into your network connection. Follow linksys instruction to setup security.
